Props to RG III

The Big 12

And Baylor

And the State of Texas

Only the Far West Voters had Winner as Luck.

The prize, after all, is not, for what a good pro-ball player you might be . . .

If I was the Colts and someone was hellbent on first pick for Luck I'd definitely trade down for the King's Ransom in picks and get RG3 and a lot of talent to surround him with. He looks like he will have more success than Cam Newton/Michael Vick and he would go to a great situation with the amount of talent they could pull in.

Congrats to Robert Griffin III. I thought Luck should have won it, but Griffin was definitely my second pick. I'm just glad Richardson didn't win, you could have thrown a lot of backs behind that offensive line and rushed for tons of yards. Luck and Griffin were without a doubt much more important to their teams, and better collegiate players.

Kind of hard for me to feel too bad for a guy who threw away millions. Most kids do stupid stuff when they finally get freedom, but most kids don't end up junkies because of it. We all make decisions that we are forced to deal with.

Luck was awesome... until he had to play some real talent and then he had six turnovers in the last few games. I would have put it at an even toss up between Richardson and Griffin, with Luck a distant third.

Richardson is a fantastic RB... even better then Mark Ingram IMO. His ability to break multiple tackles in one run; any one of which that would have brought almost any other runner down is incredible. 50% of his yardage came AFTER contact. It's nothing to watch him drag four and five defenders along with him to eek 4-5 yards out of what would have been a dead run for almost anyone else. You can hand the ball over to him, or pass it to him, and have every confidence that he WILL keep it. His one and only turnover in his entire college career was in his freshman year. The Bama offensive line is great... but there's no way you can say that Richardson's acheivements should be credited to that line.

Put Luck on a stacked team like Alabama and see what he does. Luck had very few play makers around him, if Stanford doesn't have Luck they are 8-4 at best. If Alabama didn't have Richardson, they would still be a 11-1 team. There's a reason even voters in the SEC region didn't vote Richardson #1 in the Heisman voting. Richardson is a good running back, but he isn't the best player in the nation. I'm sure next year we'll see Lacy put up numbers that are very similar to Richardson this year and Ingram the last two years. Yes, Alabama has good running backs, but when you are on a loaded team it makes it a lot easier to get good stats.

I think the problem with Marinovich is that thanks to his old man he didn't have a childhood. From all I've read and seen the Manning boys had a well-rounded childhood in spite of their famous family name. And it shows given how composed and trouble-free they've always been. Marinovich I do feel for a little bit. It was obvious his dad tried to live vicariously through his son, and that rarely ever works. His son never got to have a real childhood so it's no wonder he rebelled and got himself in trouble later in life.

As far as finances go, it's a similar story across all pro sports. I believe I read that over half of pro athletes are bankrupt within a few years of leaving the sport. Athletes seem to think those million dollar checks will just keep rolling in forever, when in reality pro sports careers very rarely last more than 5-10 years, even less for football.

I think Griffin is one of the worst Heisman picks ever. He had a terrific year, but he's not even close to being in Andrew Luck's league. Like you say, Stanford isn't a very good team minus Luck. Stanford is probably a 7-8 win team without him IMO. He wasn't even THAT bad in the loss to Oregon. The Stanford defense lost that game.

And it's not like Griffin was money every game anyway. He was garbage in that 35 point ass kicking by Oklahoma St. Baylor lost another game to Texas A&M by 27 points.

Sucks the two greatest QB's to come out of college in my lifetime both got screwed out of the Heisman. Peyton Manning got hosed by Charles Woodson (no disrespect, he was great at Michigan) and Luck by Robert Griffin.

If Richardson would have won, he would have been the most undeserving Heisman Trophy winner since Mark Ingram.

Stanford may have been a 7-8 win team without Luck but Baylor was probably a 5 win team without Griffin. Their defense is absolute garbage and the offense doesn't have any playmakers. Griffin had over 800 more yards passing than Luck, 1 more passing touchdown, 3 fewer interceptions, almost 500 more rushing yards, and 7 more rushing touchdowns in the 2nd hardest conference (the Pac-12 was the 5th hardest conference). RGIII did play poorly in the Oklahoma State game but the defense was giving up touchdowns every time OSU had the ball so Luck had to force things. Luck was very good and will probably be a better pro than RGIII but you cannot say Griffin wasn't deserving.

Well, I guess the kid showed more heart attacking random cars than Maryland players did all season on the field. This kid seems like a keeper.

I actually give them credit for heart, they were all playing very hard at the end of games, and given the vibes around here and the crushing of sprits this fool did to my team and school I won't fault them for that.

In a shocking hire, Arkansas State has reportedly hired Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn. Malzahn turned down a $3 million per year offer from Vanderbilt last year and was a candidate for the North Carolina and Kansas jobs this year so it's surprising he'd take such a low-level job. Arkansas State's former coach Hugh Freeze (who left for Mississippi) was the lowest paid coach in all of FBS last year at $202,000, but Malzahn will reportedly make $850,000, which is still a significant pay cut from his current $1.3 million salary.

I'm just worried this lawyer is so bad Sandusky may end up getting a re-trial due to incompetance of his lawyer. This Amendola guy has been a disaster from the start.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/i-...ticle-1.990880

Quote:
1-800-REALITY number that Jerry Sandusky lawyer quips about turns out to be a gay phone-sex line

Either Joe Amendola, Jerry Sandusky's oft-criticized attorney, can't keep his foot out of his mouth, or he's got a thing for hot guys who will do anything for $2.99 a minute.

Shortly after the accused child molester waived his right to a preliminary trial, Amendola told reporters during an impromptu press conference outside the Centre County Couthouse that the grand jury report that outlined the sex-abuse charges against the former Penn State defensive coordinator was deeply flawed.

The grand jury report says Penn State wide receivers coach Mike McQueary witnessed Sandusky, who faces more than 50 sex-abuse counts, rape a boy in a campus locker room. McQueary, the report says, told Joe Paterno and two university officials, but failed to notify police.

If you believe that, Amendola said, "I suggest you dial 1-800-REALITY."

It turns out that's a number for gay-sex phone service . A recorded introduction says the phone chat forum is "the hottest place for triple-X action."

"Get ready for bulging, bursting pleasure," the intro to the line says.

Amendola has been criticized by attorneys who question why he gave his client the green light to interviews with NBC's Bob Costas and The New York Times. Sandusky acknowledged showering with boys and engaging in other questionable activities during the interviews.

"I wouldn't even want to begin to get into Amendola's head," said attorney Marci Hamilton, a Benjamin Cardozo School of Law professor and an advocate for victims who have suffered sexual abuse. Hamilton, with co-counsel Jeff Anderson, also filed a lawsuit last week on behalf of a 29-year-old man who said he was abused more than 100 times by Sandusky between 1992 and 1996.

"He's very unorthodox," Hamilton said, referring to Amedola's approval of the interviews. "I don't know if that is good or bad."

People were trashing/bashing Casey Anthony's lawyer, too, and see how that turned out for her...
