Hell yeah! I love these movies and would definitely buy these if he converted them to 3D. What do you guys think?
I think that I'm annoyed I just bought them for my husband on Blu-ray if they're gonna do them in 3D. I'm also annoyed I bought the Star Wars blu-ray movies knowing they're now being converted to 3D.

But I'm sure he'll make sure that they're top notch 3D!

Not so sure about the quality. Seems to me SS is cashing in. IMO.

Want to see how Starwars does first? If they spend a lot of time on it then it should look good.

Well....Now that THAT question can be answered three months later, I suspect a lot of other directors besides Lucas and Cameron will be taking a nice, long deep breath and rethinking that first giddy rush of "rediscovering" one of their previous money-reputation hits, fresh off of reading about the software in Variety.

At least we can rule Spielberg out, now that he's had a taste of native-rendered 3D with Tintin, and hope that he's in the camp that's learned how to tell the difference, from the wise benefit of field experience.
That leaves only....let's see, Barry Sonnenfeld, Roland Emmerich, who else is a little too struck with their own brand image?

Kewl, another step in developing 3D technology. Spielberg is not Lucas, they are two different people. In my opinion, Spielberh has a "I don't give a shit attitude, just make the damn thing work and make the damn thing the best there is." Lucas on the other hand couldn't give a shit. Look how long it took that guy to release SW on blu ray? Hell, I remember how long it took this guy to release SW on DVD format. For me, I am looking forwards to the release of Jurassic Park in 3D. Now that's going to be far out.

You guys that are 3D haters shouldn't be. 3D technology is improving. Granted, it is a slow grow, but it is improving, but it ain't going to happen over night.

Default I'm not a FAN

I am so sick of this " quick make a buck scheme. "

It sucks and so does all of the Directors that think there 20 / 30 year old movies need a second run at the Theaters.

If you want to re-hash your old work to 3D fine do it.. but don't waste time releasing this crap again at the theaters.

Just move it to BD-3D and be done with it.

I think a BRAND NEW : Jurassic Park 3D is what's needed : Shot in NATIVE 3D
and damn it don't trap Dinos and bring them to New York to be released.

Star Wars : is perfect example of wasted time energy. If your do the math..
the year will be 2017 by the time Jedi is released at the theaters, thus meaning the BD 3D set would release some time in 2018... considering if
BD is still the format then. I have feeling 4K-HD-3D will be the norm and if thats true... 3D may not even be around.

It's complete RUBBISH and Failure.

George Lucas , James Cameron , Steven Spielberg
Please do us movie Fans a favor.. quit making re-hash movies and come out with something NEW; New Star Wars, New Avatar , New Jurassic Park

Steven Spielberg talked about "Jurassic Park 4" at Comic-Con 2011: "We have a story, I can happily announce right now. We have a writer... Hopefully, we'll be making 'Jurassic Park 4' in the near future. In the next two or three years."

Bring it Steven : In 3D please and dont worry about the one from 1993

I wouldn't mind a new 3D Jurassic Park either. Good suggestion. I hope the conversion here is as good as Titanic. That would be impressive.

That'd also mean shooting on digital rather than on film. Its sad 'cause I really love the look of film. It has a romantic charm which Digitally shot movies lack. Because they look too buttery clear but not crisp and film-like. I guesss the reason is the colour and the grain!
There is another alternative of course- shooting on IMAX(film) with 3D rigs specifically designed for that format! But that's very expensive and I do not think Universal or Amblin would finance that Kind of an endeavour!

i was thinking the same thing about buying the trilogy a few weeks ago but the article says he is only thinking of doing the 1st one in 3d so that wouldn't be so bad double dipping 1 movie. that is the reason i haven't bought star wars yet since i know he is making those in 3d. well at least the 1st one then depending on how that one does will determine if the rest are converted. i know it may be a while so if i do find the star wars collection for a good price i may bite on it.

Well those who have seen previews of Titanic in 3D claim it is as close to an actual non-converted 3D movie as you can get, so if he can put in the kind of effort Cameron has put into Titanic then sure, but I doubt he'd invest 2 years and $20 million into the process.

I hope this happens of course there will be the 3D haters that say no way to this but I am all for it and if it does ever happen I will be there

Yeah, I feel the same way. I own the DVD's and watch them each year. I'd like to see the new extras material on the deluxe blu ray Star Wars pack for 99.99, but I rather have them in 3D if I had to choose one.

If the 3D was great, I'd see Jurassic Park 3D on blu ray and maybe in theaters again.

It's going to be a tough sell to get big sales for Star Wars in 3D beyond the diehard fans, but I'm mostly sure it'll generate sales regardless, and there will be more 3D Star Wars movies. He just needs to learn great 3D pops like Avatar for example, otherwise, why bother with it being 3D if it's mostly flat I'd say.

----------side note:
Lucas is offering his movies on new formats whether it's VHS, DVD, Blu Ray, Blu Ray 3D, and whatever else develops down the road. I can't blame him for that, though I think if he's going to release Star Wars movies in 3D, it should be 3D on par with Avatar's depth at the very least. From what I've seen, Episode I's trailer has very conservative 3D along the lines of Tron Legacy. Decent, but not enough pop to instantly see great depth. It seems mostly flat, and that's not the point of 3D...
If there's another Indiana Jones, I think they need to reboot the series with a new actor, and not Shia LeBeouff IMO.

Me and my kid would surely enjoy watching JP together. It will be his first time to see the film.

Now, Godzilla . . .

anything smaller than 100" inches screen for 3D should be a crime.

I hope they do convert JP in 3D, it would a blast watching this on my 130" screen.

It will certainly make the cgi more believable with 3d I'm sure.

130" screen? Is that a projector type 3D? I only have a 32" screen and the 3D looks great along with the HD. Does your 130" do great HD too?

JPark is as believable as they get when it involves Dinosaurs. Amazing this was done in 1993. That new Dinosaur series from the BBC in 3D in the other recent thread will hopefully give us a glimpse of this.

If they do convert this to 3D, make it 3D that's worth our $, otherwise forget it if it's along the lines of Star Wars I 3D, which was decent at best... I'm sure they can get this up to Titanic 3D standards at the very least, a movie never designed to be 3D.
