I'm surprised they didn't do an upgrade of The Cranes Are Flying with The Letter Never Sent, being both Mikhail Kalatozov films and both having the same actress, Tatyana Samojlova. Maybe a surprise that Ryan didn't get on Twitter.

I was thinking the same. Really hoping Cranes is coming too. Both films released in the same month would be one of their best ever.

I'm thinking Letter Never Sent might be one of those cheaper releases with no features. But then again, the Cranes dvd has no features, so if they are not planning on adding any on an upgrade to Cranes, it would suck having 2 Kalatozov films without any features (I don't see them releasing something like "I am Cuba" to load features on).

Well they are making me forget for another month that they are sitting on 3-4 more Oshima films that needs to hurry up.

How about a Cranes reissue with Unmailed Letter as a supplement a la Blow Out/Murder a la mod?

Sorry to interrupt all the announcement chatter, but I have a question about Haxan. I just checked out a copy of Haxan from the library, but it is the Janus version, and not the Criterion version. I think it is the copy from the massive fifty film set that Janus put out. Anyways, the run time is 104 minutes, whereas the Criterion version is 87 minutes. Does this mean that the Janus version is the one that is at the wrong frame rate? Seems strange to me that they would release the uncorrected version, when Criterion has a speed-corrected version.
