One of the fun things I get to do with my kid is introduce him to movies.
But when I see them, especially multiple times, I start seeing flaws. Sometimes, editing mistakes, sometimes gaps in logic. Here are a few I've come across. Spoilers! Transformers 1 - towards the end, Bumble Bee gets hit, Sam is on the ground, he gets up and has a romantic goodbye with the girl. Next shot he is on the ground again with Bumble Bee crawling towards him. Completely editing screw up. Spiderman 2 - I'm watching Spiderman fight Doc Ock. Never thought about, but how the heck is Ock surviving this. He is getting thrown all over the place, falling off of buildings, but the biggest thing of all, Spiderman is repeatedly hitting him in the face. Sorry, but mechanical arms don't make you indestructible. He never even gets a mark. I think one punch from Spiderman would have caved his face in. But what really amazes me, is that I never thought of that before. I love finding gaps in logic. You guys have any? |

I usually spot a lot of stuff that just make me go
"Alright, this does not make sense" However most of the time I just turn it off by saying "This movie as a billionaire dressing up in black costume fighting some weird looking psycho guy" ![]() If the movie can keep my interest with a good story and good acting I can over look it. If the movie is just CGI candy with no acting and no story just drive me nuts. |

Inception - While I love the movie, what escapes me is this: So, Cobb goes down to Limboland to get Fischer from Mal. Along with Ariadne, they find them. A minor fight breaks out, Mal gets shot, and then the van hits the water, Arthur blows the elevator emergency brakes, and the building in Eames' dream starts to fall.
So, everyone is waking up, and progessing back up through the different dreams. Cobb tells Ariadne that she and Fischer have to go. So, they jump. They wake up. Cut to everyone getting out of the van. Eames (as the Uncle) and Fischer have a heart to heart, the rest are chilling with air tanks under the water. Meanwhile, Cobb and Saito are chilling in Limbo. Saito is old man river, and Cobb remembers and, presumably, offers to shot Saito to get him back. Well, what is the amount of time between the van hitting the water and them getting out? I know "time slows down" the further down you go, but I would think that it wouldn't take long to drown... no? Maybe I'm just overthinking it. |

I just saw The Town for the first time this week. I had one of those moments when they broke into the "cash room" at Fenway. There's no way a major ballpark, amphitheater, etc. keeps several million dollars in cash on site. They probably have tens of thousands for the vendors, clubhouse store, etc. but cash is routinely carried offsite via armored transport during the course of each event to lessen the impact if there ever was an actually burglary. Also, I'm sure the cash is brought straight to the park via armored truck and distributed to the right areas, not stored away in a small room with a couple of middle aged men to care for it.

the whole supernova thing in the last Star Trek movie really makes me laugh- is Spock the only one who did calculations on it? Wouldn't the Romulans have people working in this too Wouldn't they go "Hey Spock, you have the decimal in the wrong spot?" That and why the Romulans are bald and tattooed when it is supposed to be a sign of mourning yet there is no time for them to get all that work done since Romulas was destroyed and they were pulled through time right away. Details, details....

Here we go. Another one of these threads.......
THEY ARE MOVIES PEOPLE! THEY DON'T HAVE TO BE COMPLETELY PERFECT! Most of the time, if I notice one of these "flaws," I just laugh it off and continue to enjoy. I can be pretty ![]() ![]() |

I didn't see that but I did catch the bit they did about the handgun/RPG showdown (from Red, maybe?) and it was surprisingly interesting. |

Generally, when I watch movies I be the last one to catch mistakes, but recently when I was watching Conan, the 2011 version, I caught a very obvious one that I don't understand how it made its way into the final movie. When Conan is on the ship, discussing some plans with Ukafa? I believe, as the camera changes from the angle of showing Conan from a back view to facing him, he goes from standing to leaning with each change. The background noises even slightly differ with each shot!

I'm with Petra 99.9% There is one film that has a huge freaking mess up that is right on camera and hard to miss. Twister. I love it still, but dang that scene with Jo and Bill driving through that falling debris during the F5 sequence? A farm machine with a huge arm falls in front of them and while they try to avoid it the arm breaks the windshield on Jo's side. The very next shot the windshield is magically repaired. It was a visible and audible hit, but the filmmakers decided to go with a windshield that repairs itself? I know that is not the only mistake and logic leap in a movie that is just chock full of them. The rest I can shrug off as Petra does and continue to enjoy. I can do it with the windshield scene as well, but that sticks out as the most blatant mishap.

I was watching Star Wars, Attack of the Clones.
In the arena, Anikin, Ben, and Padme are surrounded by Destroyer droids. Mace Windu shows up with other Jedi. A bunch of battle droids rush out, Jedis run towards them. In the background, the three captives are simply running towards the Jedis, the Destroyers are no where in sight. Guess they just gave up and rolled away. |
