Budget? Need multi-room expansion? Controlling a screen, lighting, curtains/window shades?

Harmony 880/890 appears to be the popular choice.

Good luck on the PS3. It's BT and I don't think there are any real solutions for that.

Logitech makes some good ones in that price range. Good learning remotes, macros can be scripted for executing complex tasks, there are IR only and ones that do IR and RF.

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/re...otes/&cl=us,en

I've got friends with the 880 and it's pretty easy to program and very wife friendly.

Anyone got a Harmony that can give an endorsement or help?

Edit: 890 does RF too. Nice for when you Satellite receiver is in another room.

Harmony *. Doesn't matter which one, as long as it meets your needs. Basically, I'm just seconding (or thirding) what everyone else said.

I have the 550, but I didn't need any RF capabilities. Works great, and you can even get a third party PS3 remote that has an IR dongle and you can program the 550 to work with it.

You know you really should educate yourself on this, as your statement is incorrect.

My PS3 is controlled via IR and RF by my harmony 890, and it works great.

You simply spend another $14 at Amazon for the Nyko Blu-Wave Remote, plug in the USB Dongle into the PS3, and toss the Nyko remote in the drawer.

Then add the Nyko as a device in the Logitech software and you get IR Control.

And guess what, if you own the Harmony 890, you get RF Control of the PS3 through walls, windows, bathrooms, etc....

So please stop saying there are no real solutions. There are and have been for MONTHS now......

********

To the op, I would recommend the Harmony 720 or 880, either will get the job done just fine for you.

Sorry, but by "real solution", I should have said, "a single remote that you can use to control everything on the PS3 (including powering on/off) without having to jerry-rig a solution". My bad for not being specific.

I was in the market for a new universal remote until a few days ago. I was down between the Harmony One and Harmony 1000. It basically came down to me not wanting to wait for the Harmony One to release, and I have a knack for big shiny touch screens. The Harmony One is cheaper and newer, but deep down I didn't want another wand style remote. I had the Sony RM-AX4000 touch screen remote for years. It took a while getting used to a square remote with touch screen, but after time with it, I completely loved everything about it. It was hard for me to part ways with it when I moved off to college and left my sweet theatre setup. Now that I have rebuilt my own, my redemption was going for the Harmony 1000.

I'll second everyone with the Logitech remotes. 880/890/1000/One, pending on the style remote you like and whether you want RF functionality. I wouldn't use the RF now, but it'd come in handy if I ever get my dream theatre built!

I've been looking at the Harmony 1000 for a while but couldn't get myself to spend the money on it. Went into Best Buy yesterday and bought the Harmony One with 12% off Reward Zone coupon and am very impressed. Setup was fairly quick and only made a few minor adjustments. If you go to the Logitech website and play their bundle game there's also a rebate for 10% off any Harmony remote but must be purchased by 1/31.

Both great remotes but none are Bluetooth. Hopefully there will be one coming soon that is IR/RF/BT

Oh man - first time seeing Harmony One. That thing is sexy. Makes my 720 look pale in comparison..

But yeah, Harmony's the way to go IMO.
