I think even the staunchest of HD-DVD supporters would have to agree on this: HD-DVD literally cannot afford to lose anyone or anything else.

I've seen some talk like that here and abroad. There seems to be this slowly growing idea that Paramount might consider a move like this at some point.
I've been thinking that Paramount is thinking about going BD exclusive... I'm sure by now, MI:3 has hold more copies on BD than on HD-DVD. They have to be watching the sales of HD optical media real closely and be ready to make an attempt at where they are going to hedge their bets. I know that Babel is encoded in AVC... and the BD is encoded in MPEG-2, but maybe they and Sony had a deal on how many titles they (Sony) would encode for them. Paramount could be trying out AVC because they know the BD camp is very fond of the codec and they could be ready to make a move.

This would certainly make an impact on the format war. There are so many MS-DVD supporters that seem like they are on the edge and one more piece of bad news could be all that's needed for them to rescind their support for the format.
