Yeah, I only mentioned the remake because it's another distinguishing point between the US and UK sets - but not necessarily a desirable one.

About the soundtrack to Omen III, I rewatched the film just recently and found the music enormously distracting. Not totally its fault - it's been used as stock music in so many other contexts, in trailers, commercials and documentaries, that in my mind's ear it no longer sounds like it belongs to that film. By unfortunate association it almost made the film itself feel like a trailer, and I found I kept expecting some corny voice-over to chime in at any second.

It also didn't help that the score isn't scene-specific, timed to the tics and hit points of a specific sequence as a lot of film scores are, but layered over the top as a kind of overall "tell us what to think" music. I've never been a fan of that approach. For me, it becomes unintentionally hilarious when the music is sawing away, trying to raise our emotions and a sense of either threat or grandeur, almost completely out of keeping with what we're actually seeing on-screen. (In that respect it reminds me a lot of Predator, where the bombastic action-movie music over the humdrum opening sequence lifts that sort of incongruence to an utterly ridiculous level.)

For that, and other unfortunate reasons, I personally find it very hard to take the third Omen movie very seriously. I watch it as the concluding part of the trilogy, but I doubt I would ever choose to watch it as a film on its own merits.
