Default Upgrading Speakers

Hi just last year I made my first jump into home theater and bought the klipsch hd 300 (which I love) and an onkyo ht-rc230. These have been great for me as a beginner but I think I'm ready to upgrade. I have been looking at the polk monitor60's as my front, a psw10 sub, monitor30's as my rears, and a cs20 as a center. Do you guys think this is a good upgrade and do you think my receiver can power these or not? Thanks

Do you want to take a little step up, and later take another little step or make a nice double step now.

My post was a little short, if you take the double step, give a budget.

That is the real question, how much are you going to spend.

Myself and a few other will try to find the best upgrades for ya.

My advice would be to keep saving. If your current system (which you have no immediate complaints about) can sustain you for long enough, why not try & double that $500 (or more), rather than upgrading now and getting the upgrade itch again in a few months, but starting from scratch? Its not like your receiver is broken, or your watching movies through clock radio speakers.

And it might just be me, but saving up money and knowing where that money was going to be directed has helped me focus & stave off the upgrade bug. Use that time to read up & listen to as many speakers as possible...

Do you guys think that the polk monitor60's would be a good buy for $100 a piece? I think I could use them as my fronts for now and then eventually buy monitor70's and use the 60's for my surrounds. What do you guys think?

have you listened to them? how do you like their sound? have you listened to other brands?

I'll echo the same advice as some have already posted. listen to as many brands as you can. I would also like to add to look at some bookshelves too. are you looking at towers for your fronts for the sake of having towers? I ask that because I almost made the same mistake myself. I was about to get a pair of towers but found a pair of bookshelves that sounded much better for around the same price.

I decided to wait and check out other brands and set ups. that helped me save a few $$ along the way.

Do you guys know any stores where I can listen to different speakers?

Great finds, because you could get some PSB b5 or b6 or paradigm mini monitors and a pair of stands for his budget, and those would be a great start to a nice setup. add the center later when he's saved some more money.

Thank you sooooo much! I have been looking at the mini monitors, what do you think would be a fair price on them? I think I will visit the Stereo Shoppe first because it is closest to me. I'm excited to hear the PSB speakers too.

Do you guys have any thoughts on the NHT SuperZero 2.0? For $100 they seem pretty tempting, but I haven't had a chance to listen to them.

reviews have been very good for the NHT SuperZero speakers, esp. given their price. Like Rich said, it will need a good sub. In a small room the Hsu STF-2 makes an excellent budget sub to pair with those speakers.

Yeah these would be going in a bedroom. How does pairing subwoofers with speakers work and would one like this work http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-10-...4528215&sr=8-2? Also what would make a good center channel with these?
