G, do you think we can count on this data being made available for future weeks?

Bill Hunt said that 'FYI, we will post the numbers for the second half of January as they become available, to track how sales of both formats are affected by the various recent sales and discounts.'

So it seems this will continue to be posted going forward.

It would be nice to be able to sell more than 22,625 stand alone BD players this week. That way we could say Blu-ray sold more in January then HD DVD did in December.

Can you post the percentages next to the actual figures as well?

Does anyone release weekly PS3 sales? I expect there was a sharp bump after the Warner decision, but would love to see how much.

Unfortunately, Bill just posted in the Insiders Thread that NPD has asked him to stop posting the numbers and he will honor that request. He may comment on trends, but actual figures? Not any more.

Nice post. Thanks, the numbers are REALLY sad for the DUD considering the pricing. Damn near sub 100 dollar pricing WITHOUT any sales or rebates and they still cant keep up.

Don't be surprised to see HD DVD to pull out consitant numbers. Retailers are looking to dump those things any way shape or form. We need to wait out this period of the firesale to draw any real conclusions.

"Going from 7% to 34% in the last couple of weeks-hey that's nearly 485%! At this rate Blu Ray might as well throw in the towel right now, because we can clearly and quite logically project hd dvd to be at 100%, maybe even 200% market share in just a couple of weeks. wOOt! Hey get me a Gartner or other research analyst on the phone, they need to see this."

This from the front page at hddvd.com, as reported by Pravin. Is he really serious? Pfftt what a joke.

Maybe people are just buying them as upconverters. I know that some retailers are advertising them as such.

It might help explain why the software numbers haven't changed but the hardware did.

Its surprising to see that people are still buying paper weights. I know the price is good but what do they think is going to happen to their lemon when nobody is selling media for them.
