DO NOT BUY THESE IN-STORE! Buy them online!
So I just bought the HP1 Ultimate Edition in my local HMV, and it's going back tomorrow. First off, the outer slipcase is scuffed up beyond all recognition (didn't notice until I had got home). Secondly, my set had the Snape and Minerva cards instead of the Harry and Minerva cards. And finally, the stupid sticky security band thing that HMV uses instore, has torn the slipcase a little bit at the bottom on the front. Not off to a good start with my HP purchases from HMV! ![]() |

Not be upgraing from DVD to HD with this boxset at all.
Come on Warners, DTS HD MA 5.1 for all 8 films and extended cuts through seemless branching otherwise I will either stick with my DVD's or wait for the best boxset to be around £25 at Tesco's or HMV. How many times is going to take before studio's realise that if they want £60 from me to buy their products again on a new format, then they are going to have to give me a damn good reason to, and this boxset does not on any level. It's just getting to the point where I am fed up with being ripped off in the UK (and I know I am when I check the specs on the US and other countries discs), so Come on Warners, it's not like this franchise didn't make much! |

Problem with mine is, that all the security sh*t had to be removed so that I could check the item over properly, so I don't know if my local HMV will even accept it as a return or an exchange. I've never had to return anything to HMV before.
Add to that, the real icing on the cake is, that I have just checked over all the undersides of the discs, and noticed that the Extended Edition disc, the whole reason to buy these boxsets, is scratched to hell! ![]() NOTE TO WB: Check your items before sending them out!!! ![]() Going to try and return it tomorrow between my double work shifts. There had better not be any problems! ![]() Last edited by Billz; 12-21-2011 at 10:15 PM. |

Sigh, you do realise that complaining on here about WBUK's bizarre business practices won't make WBUK care, right? Complaining to WBUK directly, however, may well reap dividends. Have any of you tried getting in touch with WBUK? Do you need contact details for WBUK? Please, don't be put off the idea of complaining directly to WBUK because of the depressing eagerness to lap up any old crap that WBUK dishes out as seemingly evidenced by this thread. The UK Home Entertainment market is huge. And the UK Home Video market is a market that's far too important to the Majors for them to risk upsetting a (perceived) significant minority of consumers within it -- the issue here is that if (virtually) no one complains (to the right people), the perception that is created is that nothing needs to change. Moreover, please be aware that out of all the US Majors, it's WB (via their UK operation) who have consistently shown themselves to be a cut above when it comes to customer care; WBUK have on many occasions shown a willingness to address consumer complaints, a willingness that's virtually unmatched by the other American Majors. So, if there's going to be an issue with a UK BD release, then you want to hope and pray that it's a WB title, because WBUK are the most likely out of the US majors to fix the issue. Yes, the power to make WBUK care is yours, people; the (power)ball is in your court, so just kick that damned ball! ![]() Last edited by Kuros; 12-22-2011 at 11:16 PM. |

Kuros is right... but I'm gonna moan in this thread anyway.
It's nice that some people are happy with these sets. That's grand for you. But what about those of us who do want the advantages the US set has? These are packaged to look exactly the same as those sets -- if I hadn't come on here before purchasing and seen all the complaints, I would have bought the UK versions assuming it was identical and been rather disappointed. At least use different packaging to indicate differing content. Or, even better, just copy the bloody discs. Back when the US & UK sets worked out at about the same price this wouldn't've bugged me so much, but now that the UK ones can be had for below £14 and (I imagine) the US ones still come to £25+, and are presumably going OOP soon to boot, it rather grates. So do I accept below-par UK content, or fork out ~£70 extra on imports, or wait goodness knows how much longer to see what they come up with next time round, whenever that may be? Hm, maybe I will copy this into an email to WBUK after all! |

Is the Half Blood Prince: Ultimate Edition missing a disc?
Due to a miscommunication, I received the basic 1-8 boxset for christmas, instead of the Ultimate Edition of Prisoner Of Azkaban, and on the back, I noticed that Half Blood Prince has 2 discs, where as the Ultimate Edition has 4. Assuming that 1 disc is the blu-ray, 1 disc is the DVD, 1 disc is the DVD bonus features, and 1 disc is part 6 of the Creating documentary, doesn't this technically mean that it is missing the second disc from the basic edition of Half Blood Prince? Whats the scoop on this enquiry? |

The Canadian Blu Ray ultimate Edition of HP1 is true to the original title of Philosophers Stone and has the extended version on a Blu Ray disc. The only loss is having a R1 bonus DVD.
They are currently on ebay here (roughly £24 delivered): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2807834643...84.m1497.l2649 Not sure what you'd be hit with regarding import charges though but a good buy if you don't want to go the US "Sorcerers Stone" route... |

OoTP just arrived from MovieMail before GoF, as I suspected that it would (even though I ordered them both on the same day).
If I'm honest, I can't say that I am a fan of the packaging that MovieMail chose to use for shipping. They used a cardboard wraparound, sort of like what Amazon use, only worse. There are a few scuff marks on the slipcase as a result of the packaging used to ship it. Although, they can only be seen at certain angles. I would send it back for a replacement, but to be honest, why bother when the slipcase is just going to succumb to wear and tear through out it's shelf life anyway? If it were a steelbook, I'd be fuming, but since it's cardboard, it would have been inevitable in either case. Just waiting for GoF fire to arrive, then I'll shop around for HBP, and start waiting for DH1 and DH2. What are the chances that DH1 and DH2 will both be released in a single Ultimate Edition boxset, since they are technically one movie just cut in half? |
