I think it depends on each persons room size and configuration. For example, my HT room is in a very small 10 x 11 spare bedroom, and my seating is actually a small single bed (for now) pushed up against the back wall. I only have space to run 6 positions in my situation, 3 on the bed, and 3 in front of the bed. I have no more room behind me and if I run 2 more I'll be right in front of the TV screen. I've been running 6 positions, but if there is an audyssey guru out there that can tell me where else I can put another couple of positions I'll gladly run 8.
