Checked out my Paramount collection. It would appear you're correct. I cannot find a region marking on any of the paramount releases. That's very interesting. Thanks for the tidbit

There's likely a high probability of a region free TNG Sampler. Perhaps even the entire forthcoming season sets.

With shipping added it comes to under $15 canadian. Items under $20 aren't dinged with fees and taxes.

It is most certainly region free, as it has German as one of its languages (which means this same release will be all over some Region B countries). As a Brazilian buying my BDs from all over the world, I got used to identifying those who can be played over here (Region A). I'll be picking this up from Amazon.UK.

Looking at all the languages they have in the disc, I'd say Paramount won't release this in every market (including mine). Usually, Paramount puts English, Spanish, French and Portuguese in its US releases, and the European languages (including, sometimes, Portuguese from Portugal) in the UK/GE releases (and those discs have the same master for other European countries).

But in the case of "Next Level", you look at the languages and see the US disc serves in the largest American (US, Canada), European (UK, Germany, France), and Asian (Japan) markets. Which means they will probably make one authoring and release it only in those big markets (it makes sense, since it is only a test for the appeal of the series). The smaller markets (Brazil included) will probably get just the full season sets.

In any case, save for mandatory contracts, they make all their discs Region Free. So, mine will come from UK.

Models win out over CG almost every time
Well, I challenge you to check out the CG work from YouTube user: mylex67
and tell me model works is better than CG.

Here's all his "Money" clips:

Full ST:TMP spacedock arrival and departure of NCC-1701

ST:II Spacedock departure

Slightly alternate version of the Mutara Nebula Battle

ST:III arrival at "Mushroom" space station

Enterprise departing Earth alternate take

Funny how the least little thing amuses me. That must be a cap from The Inner Light. Or am I wrong. I've never really watched the series, but I love the movies of the Next Generation. I really want the sampler to see The Inner Light as I've both read and heard that it was awesome.

The original model work looks a lot more real, although the "mattes" to place them in the shot look more fake. I'd still take the models.

You're comparing amateur work to full studio multi-million budget state of the art (at the time) modelwork.

Now if ILM was to go back and redo those shots themselves with CG, you'd better believe it would be better in every way.

That's correct... Only one disc was made with all of the languages listed, and it's region free.

Everyone gets the same disc.

Of course, I agree. Also, conversely if ILM did model work today in 2011 it would be better in every way to any effects done in 1987, but I don't think anyone was slamming this person's work - it's certainly very good animated work. I think they were simply responding to the OP's hyperbolic claim that this person's work was superior.
