Do you mean like in Dark Knight or Transformers 2? Where the black bars are there sometimes, but gone during the "IMAX" moments? Because I didn't notice any cropping at all during the film, is was "Big screen" the whole time for me...

Not like IMAX. In certain scenes the image compared to the theatrical version has been cropped to fill the 16:9 screen. Examples of this have been posted in the Voyage of the Dawn Treader thread.

Hello all!
I've kept the list updated even though I didn't get the chance to respond in post, but I wanted to take this chance to tell all those below that I/we really appreciate the contributions you have given! Thank you so much!

Thanks wormraper for confirming physically! It's the prerequisite and "specialness" of this list. I just wanted to point you/that out specifically. THanks again.

hey DarkXPower! thanks again for contributing, especially considering that you even made an account on this great forum to post this information up! And I'm glad what you have learned/shown here because it reenforces the uniqueness of this list;i.e. search generated/parameter lists going off of what websites and misinformed statistics can yield wrong information and be in the wrong results/lists. So, with users like you, this list can comprise of physically seen/confirmed blurays. So again, I thank you very much for this.

Again, I just want to thank everybody for contributing to the list/thread. As much as it helps those such as yourselves, I'm sure it also is helpful and informative to others with the same interests as well, and on behalf of them as well, I/we give my/our thanks!

True Grit needs to be removed from this list (unless its the 1969 version, then that needs to be updated). I just watched it and it is NOT 1.78, it is 2.35...

What's wrong with that? I love my 2.35 movies just as much as my 1.78 movies. Not trying to start a war, just wondering.

Its whatever to me, but I definitely prefer 1.78 and 1.85...but this thread is a list for fullscreen, 1.78/1.85 movies, and True Grit was in the list, so that is why I made that post.

Eventually I will have a 2 screen home theater room. A pull down 1.78:1 screen for 1.33:1, 1.78:1, and 1.85:1. Then the second screen will be a 2.40:1 fixed screen. I saw where a member here did such a thing.

Yes QuasidodoJr, welcome back! It has been a while...the last time you posted there was a long break between any new contributions so you, probably the same as me, thought the thread had died. It seems new info/contributions comes in waves. I've been caught neglecting the thread because of this (and not logging in for a while disables the email notification)
but your contributions are always the best and are always welcome and appreciated!
...though it seems that Good Will Hunting has been submitted already. I'll just put it as re-confirmed by you then...

I wanted to give a special thanks to DarkXPower and this post because it's a very helpful post that is not in the usual form of a contribution. And that is because it's actually a removal for the integrity of the list instead of adding a contribution. These are just as welcome and I appreciate the attention and watchfulness. Again, they contribute to the list just as much. Thanks again.

This is true dvdlovr24. I don't believe it goes towards any kind of preference but is simply because it does/doesn't fall into the criteria of this thread/list.

Again, I wanted to thank you all for another great round of great contributions to the list. I am so proud that this list is kept going for the benefit of any interested! and, for this, I cannot thank enough!

hmm...well I was about to post to tell you that you were wrong...but I decided to put the bluray in and make double sure, and now I am seeing black bars...but this doesn't make any sense to me, I swear it didn't have them before when I watched the movie...so why are there black bars now?? Dammit I feel like I'm losing my mind...

Just encase I double checked the other movies I listed, and those are still good and full screen...so I guess I was either too high or so in awe by the animation that I imagined it being full screen...but it appears Megamind is NOT full screen...

LOL, no problem.

I only knew it as it's 1 of my boy's fave movies

Also, if your TV can manage "Cinema" mode using HDMI (mine can't *starts crying*) then it may have been slightly stretched to fill the screen.

Default thanks

thanks so much for your comment re bluray not taking up the space of the whole tv. it is very disapointing isnt it? makes me wish i hadnt bothered with bluray now. i hate seeing those black bars they are very distracting and what is the point of having a large screen tv when only part of it is being used. really annoyed with that but very greatful for your work and list of movies.
apart from that grrrrrrrrr to bluray
