Stopping thru to say hello there. Oh, and I did read your last post to the thread I started on pure audio.

More then likely, a little later I will get back to it. I wanted to tell you I do understand each of the devices, and how they work, but I'm still missing something. It will hit me one day, when I'm into something else.

I was talking with someone the other day that was telling me that the Music Halls and Creeks sound almost the same, but the Creeks offer a bit more detail and soundstaging. That is making me almost want to just go straight to the Naim.

I bought 2 pieces of music today, one was Jimi Hendrix In The West. The other is Leonard Bernstein conducting the New York Philharmonic playing Schubert Symphony 8 and Symphony 9. Both are great.
How much classical do you have now?

I'm hoping not to miss FedEx tomorrow for the delivery of the XPA-1 for the center channel, I missed them twice for the XPA-5.

If you really feel Naim is the one for you then you should just find the best deal you can on one.

Everything is cool, nothing great going on. I have decided what I'm going to do when I go 9 channel's. I will be looking into getting some MA in-walls for heights.

Before I buy them, I will have to make sure the placement I want does not have a stud right there.

Yet, something so simple is far off, I have so many other things I have to do around the house as it is.

Fortunately, I'm not really missing anything in my current setup. The wife and I enjoy what we have.

I haven't really been into music at all lately, the only thing I bought was the new Everlast cd. Listened to it once to check out the new power supply for the dac and haven't turned it on again since. I didn't even listen to those Ascend speakers very much, just haven't been able to get into two channel lately. I tried listening to Pink Floyd DSOTM SACD tonight and I've never been able to get into that album. I just don't hear what others rave about. It actually turns off of listening to music. I always seem to flip back and forth though, sometimes six months will pass of not listening to very much music and then for a few months that's all I'll do.

Are you looking to buy cd's or vinyl?

Thought I would put a pic of the setup in here, as my HT Gallery didn't have a very good pic of the whole setup. I redid the gallery also.

yea, I measured them 16 inches from the edge of the TV, its about the same as the distance I sit back from them. It might actually be a little less. I want to move them out a little more, but the issue I have is that there is a play pen (not Pictured) that has to surrounds the setup so my son doesn't play with the speakers/xbox/TT/BDP. So Im close to maxed out. Once he's older and all, Ill remove the playpen and move them out another 4-5 inches. When I do that it opens up the soundstage a little more. I thought about doing it now, but if I do then he could reach the speakers from the sides... I don't want broken grills.

I had a similar issue with my former HT setup. The short wall on which the system was placed was 8ft, but I wanted to experiment with placing my speakers further apart, just in case I'd get an improved soundstage. I tried it and it did open everything up much to my satisfaction. However, the speakers were now in the walking path to enter the kitchen on one side and the dining room on the other. Needless to say, I had to bring them back within 8ft.

I'd like to move my S6's a little closer together but can't due to the amps stands, They're toed in a little to much right now but it's the best I can do with the space that I have. When everything gets moved again I'm thinking of eliminating the tv stand all together as the tv is wall mounted in there. Just not sure how I would configure everything as it's all in wall wiring with the plates for speakers and hdmi etc. I had thought of getting another couple of amp stands and having the amps lined up along the wall below the tv and behind the center channel stand. Not sure if that would look good though.

yeah, I find them best at about 7'6" apart, and right now they are about 6'8". But I don't want damaged speakers, and the boy likes to touch everything. So I would rather keep them safe from his heightened interested.

what I find is that the soundstage outside the speakers is fine, between the speakers it seems a little closed in and like the instruments are closer together. And the depth of the soundstage isn't as deep. But his curiousity should be quelched in a few months.

maybe you could get 2 racks that would go under the mounted TV and between the speakers and center channel. Have the racks back against the wall and then the speakers brought forward? That may look good. Or get a new stand that the Center can go on top of, and all the gear can go into?

That'd have to be a pretty tall stand . What I should have done when we reno'd the basement was built an equipment closet, unfortunately that's just not a possibility now without spending a bunch of money to tear things apart again and rebuild.

I'd like to add a pj setup in that room eventually and at this point in time I don't know how low the screen would hang down. That will be something I'll have to investigate before buying anything else.

Do your Dyn's sound best when point straight or toed in at all? That's something that I need to play around with upstairs, I don't think I've got my S20's paced 100% optimal yet. Right now they're slightly toed in but I find that keeps the soundstage in between the speakers all the time.
