Metallica in 3D?

January 6, 2012

Happy New Year!!! As you know, we generally make it a policy not to comment on gossip or rumors, but we also pride ourselves on being first with 'Tallica news. So, with that said, the more astute of you may have noticed a couple of mentions in trade publications, and most recently in the new issue of Rolling Stone, that a Metallica 3D movie is in the works. We're here to tell you that, yes, there is indeed a 3D project in the very early stages of production! We wish we could tell you more right now, but we don't have all the finer points nailed down just yet. What we can tell you is that we are planning on being in a theatre near you sometime in 2013 and as you hear us say ever so often, this will be the space for all the details as we finalize them.

Welcome to 2012... we're pretty psyched about the year ahead!

Sounds good. A concert in 3D might be almost like being there.

They need to make more albums instead of always playing live for a change. But the fact they're still a band after all these years is pretty darn rare.

Finally a cool concert in 3D. I missed U2 in the theaters.

I was a huge Metallica fan back in the earlier years, and have seen them live plenty of times. Even saw them with Cliff Burton just before he died. But I've mostly lost interests in today's version. I'm not sure I've even heard anything off their last couple albums lol.

But I'd buy their 3D concert for sure. I bet it would sound pretty kick ass in HD surround. Just hope they will play a few of the classics.

Default Metallica - Metallica Through The Never

The Metallica 3D movie has officially been named "Metallica Through The Never" and will be released on August 9.

Quote:
It won't just be a live performance on the big screen. The movie will be interspersed with a storyline featuring actor Dane DeHaan as a crew member who is sent on an urgent mission during the show. Little does he know, his world is about to be turned upside down.

"Putting this movie together for the last couple of years has been a pretty wild ride, and we’ve definitely done our share of flying without a net," Lars Ulrich said on their website. "Some of you were kind enough to be a huge part of our three nights of filming and may be wondering just what the heck has been happening since then. Throughout the Fall and first part of this year, we've been working with director Nimród Antal and a team of editors to pull all the pieces together and so we are beyond excited to now actually have a release date and a title."

While Metallica have independently funded the movie, they know it's beyond their experience to distribute it to theaters and make it a hit. That's why they've teamed up with the well-established Picturehouse to take it to cinemas and then streaming services.

"Like your friends in 'Tallica, Picturehouse is truly independent, take big chances and often think outside of the box. Founder Bob Berney has overseen the releases of two of the most successful independent films ever, 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' and 'The Passion Of The Christ'," the band said

There appears to be 4 versions of this on Blu-Ray and Amazon doesn't yet have the cheapest version on 3D available for pre-order.

Anyone find out where this is available on 3D Blu cheapest?

I do have the "Limited Deluxe Set / Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + Digital Copy" that I snagged for pre-order price of $27.99. Just hope it turns out the be the right version...here's the listing on Amazon now for what I ordered: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I think KillerJuan77 mentioned the 3D here was pretty good if I remember right. It never showed up in theaters in my area, otherwise I may have checked it out then.

This is out to buy fairly soon in the UK, looking forward to picking it up. Not the biggest Metallica fan, but i like The Black Album. The main guy in this is a great actor, Dane De Haan. he was cracking in Lawless and Chronicle.
