Arian Foster is a restricted free agent and he isn't going anywhere.

I hope not, at least

Running Backs are more or less interchangeable parts that often don't last more than 3-5 good years. Losing one is usually isn't a huge deal.

The only really irreplaceable component of a contending team in the NFL is a franchise QB. What pisses me off is the fact that the Colts and Packers seem to have a monopoly on those. Some teams don't see one for decades and yet Green Bay gets Favre and Rodgers and Indy gets Manning and Luck back to back. Hell, what's Miami had, like 15 or 20 starting QB's since Marino?

Jaguars hired Mike Mularkey as head coach

Did they not see the game where he got outscored by his defense

year of slim pickings

No Colts or Steelers, Patriots are going to the Super Bowl

I'm not sold on Flacco, he's a Mark Sanchez with a better running game and defense
Every time they give him the ball instead of Ray Rice, they lose

Where's the New England hate? Bledsoe to Brady afterall (with a capable Matt Cassel stopping by for a cup of coffee).

I get the anger over the Colts getting the #1 pick perfectly spaced apart when a projected slam dunk QB was draft eligible but Rodgers was drafted 24th, Alex Smith was taken 1st and the Redskins traded up to draft Campbell. Campbell was drafted one spot after Rodgers but they traded up specifically to draft him otherwise they would have traded for a higher pick with another team to get Rodgers. Green Bay also didn't have much QB sucess for a long time after Bart Starr. Bart Starr, 20+ year gap of mediocre quarterback play and then Brett Favre.

well look @ it this way, the packers could've ended up w/alex smith in that draft!!!

favre was the product of the genius ron wolf.

and even though it pains me to admit this, ted thompson had his sh!t together when he drafted rodgers!!!

You have a point (to some extent) on New England. Though I didn't include the Pats because I never considered Bledsoe a top-tier QB. Don't get me wrong, for about a 5-6 year stretch he was a Pro Blow, high 2nd tier player and did lead the Pats to one Super Bowl. He's just not up there with the Packers Favre/Rodgers and (probably) Indy's Manning/Luck.

Default Jaguars interview, hire Mike Mularkey as head coach

http://www.news4jax.com/sports/Jagua...y/-/index.html

Quote:
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Channel 4's Sam Kouvaris has confirmed reports circulating Tuesday night that the Jaguars have their man: Mike Mularkey will be the new head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Quick Clicks

Mularkey, offensive coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons, interviewed with the Jags on Tuesday and was offered the job -- becoming the third head coach in Jaguars history,

Mularkey, who was a tight for the Florida Gators in the early 80s, was head coach of the Buffalo Bills from 2005 through 2007.

Mularkey had success in Atlanta developing a young quarterback -- the Falcons' Matt Ryan -- into one of the premiere passers in the NFL. Growing the one-year QB Blaine Gabbart to his potential leading the Jaguars into the future.

General manager Gene Smith led Jacksonville's search for a new coach after Wayne Weaver fired coach Jack Del Rio on the same day that he announced he was selling the team to Illinois businessman Shahid Khan.
Well, I wanted an offensive minded coach for the longest time. We got one alright, but I feel that we could of searched just a bit longer. Boy I hope Gene Smith knows what he's doing now that Del Rio is gone.

Also our DC/interim coach Mel Tucker shows interest with the Vikings as their DC.

All this means is the Jags will get a ton of great talent and still not be able to put points on the board!

Well the Colts had Manning, we'll see how their team does with Luck. He may be great, but you need a coach, offense/defense, and good players all around to win.

I do agree about the Packers though. Packer fans always take for granted how well their guy under center has been for the past 20 years. A lot of teams struggle with it.

don't forget all of the heartbreak we went through w/favre though.

while he was great at putting up #'s as an individual player, he only won 1 super bowl in his time here.

b/c of his bone headed play, he could've easily led us to the super bowl in 2 or 3 other seasons.

i've got high hopes for rodgers though. he's a smart player that really knows the game.

if he has talent like this (or even like last year w/all of those back up's) around him that he can work with, i can see him going to the super bowl 3 or 4 times in his career.

hopefully he's the difference maker this year w/our horrible defense!!

Now that the Colts have a new GM, do you all think Caldwell be back?

From the sounds of it Schottenheimer was fired but as is often the case they let him say he resigned. The Jets had always planned on firing Schott after the season ended but held off and said Schott was staying because they were hoping the Jags would hire him as their head coach and save them the $3 million Schott is owed on his contract. It sounds like the Jets will likely hire Tony Sparono as their new OC, and possibly Todd Haley as an assistant.

Why does everyone assume Luck is going to be a franchise QB? Let him a play a game first...

I don't think it's as bad as it seems. It was mentioned how the Dolphins haven't had a quarterback since Marino. But the Dolphins had an extended period of great quarterbacks. Bob Griese in the 70's and after a short transitional period with David Wooley, enter Dan Marino. That's quality quarterbacking for 25 years. Now it's Green Bay's turn to have sustained excellence after having nobody after Starr for 20 years.

Some teams almost never have good qb's like the Bears (Cutler good, but not elite) while the Giants have had not elite (though Eli is enetering elite territory) but solid quarterbacks for over 25 years also. Simms to Collins to Eli.

Broncos haven't had a great QB since Elway, Vikings haven't had one since Cunningham, Iggles haven't had one in a LONG time. I don't think the Redskins have ever had one.

I think your memory is fuzzy. While healthy, Culpepper was a pretty good quarterback for five years and McNabb was starting for the Eagles just a few years ago with Vick doing a solid job now.

Redskins, well you got me on that one.

McNabb was a great QB. He took the team to 4 consecutive NFC title games, a Super Bowl, and had a 9-7 playoff record despite only once having a great receiver (TO) who turned into a headcase after 1 season.
