Like most modern jackpot machines, the results are computer-generated when you enter, and the spinning is to entertain you with a little old-school suspense.

I didn't have a 100th-Anniversary DVD code to enter, DMR style; am I the only one who had to e-mail for a No Purchase Necessary code?

(And as for the highlight-reel video--I know they want to sell their old catalog titles too, but "A Beautiful Mind" is an "immortal classic"? "The Nutty Professor"??
At least they remembered the old Spielberg/John Williams "Amazing Stories" theme...Wouldn't mind seeing the two pertinent episodes of THAT one on Blu.)

Well, it did win Oscars for Best Picture, Best Actress in a Supporting Role: Jennifer Connelly, Best Director: Ron Howard & Best Adapted Screenplay.

Although I'm not a huge fan, it won in a relatively weak year. My favs weren't even nominated for Best Picture: Amelie, Memento & The Royal Tenenbaums.

Looks like the Canadian version is the same slips as the US. No bilingual text. Only difference is the one extra sticker on it that reads 'includes French version'! My lical WM had 19 of the blus and most of the companion DVDs plus DVD Schin list.

Where do you request a code? I don't see a link on the site.

Yes, but even the Academy seems to have legendarily regretted it ever since, which was one real major factor in "Return of the King" winning in '03.
(No, really: Remember, "Sure, Fellowship didn't win, but...we should really give it to the whole trilogy!" as the official save-face excuse the morning after? )

Nowadays, I don't know anyone who watches it all, whether they're disgruntled LOTR fans or not--
It was sort of a last-minute critical flash-in-the-pan, the Artist, King's Speech or Shakespeare in Love of its day.

(The same could be said for "All Quiet on the Western Front" being a "classic" that doesn't get much play these days:
Think it was only up on the list because a studio broadcasting its historical anniversary always wants to put its oldest official Oscar winner up to symbolize their "first" great immortal studio-building film, but Paramount already had Wings...Universal didn't win theirs till the next year after, but close enough.)

Has anyone seen "Do the Right Thing" in BB, Target, or Walmart yet???? BB sites says online or in store yet the site doesn't let you check in store availability option. I checked my local BB but they didn't have any of the new 100 Ani BDs in yet....Looks like I may just have to order it if I don't see it this weekend......

Errr....here's one of those reasons we tell blind-buyers they might want to try renting first.

(Not a bad movie, even though Michael Cimino turned out to be a One-Hit Wonder.--
But, y'know how in college, they always used to play "Beer Hunter", where you had to open one Russian-roulette shaken can of beer out of six up against your head?....Ever wonder how it got that name? )

It's after you put in your email. Screen will pop up to put in your code. Underneath will be a link to click on if you don't have a code.

It is nice. I already own the first Seabiscuit, but am willing to get the new Blu/DVD release for that slip. I love slips. Babe was only $11.96 at Walmart. If Best Buy gets Seabiscuit in and it's $12.99 like Billy Elliot I can use my last Upgrade & Save coupon to knock off $5. That would be a good deal.

Well All Quiet on the Western Front was amongst the number of the AFI's first 100 Greatest American Films list; at around #30 I believe. In my budding days as a cinemaphile I mined that list like a '49er, and that's how I first heard of it. It's also been picked for preservation as 'culturally significant' by the Library of Congress. So I'd afford just a little more leeway to its status as a classic. It doesn't get much play now, you're right; but man, I think it's scenes of war still hold up today. Certainly a seminal film in the genre.

My copy of Babe arrived today.

I also went to a Target on my way home from work, but they didn't have any of these... Anyone know what the prices are like at Target? Are they on par with Walmart?

If my memory from today is correct they are about $14.99 at the most expensive according to the tags.

Cool beans. Printed out my coupon a couple hours ago. Tomorrow I can finally grab Ray. Glad I never had a chance to get it before. Now I can get a very nice slip with it (non-gold AA).

How exactly do you play the game for that coupon? It sent me an email saying I had been entered for a chance to win a million dollars or something.
