One of my absolute favourite films! And I'd pretty much given up all hope that it would ever get a BD release.

KingSimba, have WBUK given you any indication about which quarter, or even which half of 2012 we can expect this, and whether the original ending will be included (if the original ending is included, it'll hopefully be in finished form, and not in unfinished black and white like it was on the origanal DVD release!)?

Oh, and KS, have I told you lately that I completely and utterly heart u?

Unfortunately I don't have any info on disc spec's or content at the moment.

Regarding the release date, im afraid sometime in '2012' is all I currently have.
I would imagine all the Warner catalogue titles I posted last night will be spread out randomly over the whole of next year (like 20th Century Fox's recent UK catalogue title wave for next year), so it's difficult to even guess when this particular one might come out.

I shall keep this thread along with all the others updated as soon as I know anything more.

There's been a fair bit of chat about this over on the US threads, and the possibility of there being the full uncut version included, which had more footage in the main body of the film (and even a couple of cut or extended musical numbers) in addition to the chopped-off ending. Several people have said the master negatives for the cut bits were destroyed in a fire, and that the low-res b&w footage is all that's left.

I really hope they're wrong, and we get two cuts on this. 'Coz surely Geffen would realise a restored cut would be a huge selling point?

Hmm...is there any source apart from the "Frank Oz apparently said that WB apparently said it's going to happen".
I won't get too excited until extra sources appear (this has been rumoured before), but if it's true, then consider me stoked. I think this is the #1 Blu-Ray release I'm hoping to be announced. And that's with all the features I'm hoping for.

If it's coming to Blu-Ray - Purchase
If it includes the alternate ending - Definate Purchase
If it includes the remastered alternate ending integrated into the movie itself - Day One Purchase

I only ever post about new catalogue releases if I have either heard some sort of confirmation from the studio's themselves, have seen them listed in the BVA database or simply see them available to order from somewhere online.

In this case I have received email from the studio, and it is also currently listed on Amazon but with no exact release date as yet.

Why is this in the UK section?
Because it's for a UK release

Ah, so WB have informed you it's coming! Well, that's something then!
The only other time the Blu-Ray has been mentioned is when Frank Oz said that WB informed him that there will be a Blu-Ray and DVD release around Halloween 2012 with the original ending.

So I guess we can assume the original ending is there in some form! Weather it'll be coloured or integrated into the film at all, we don't know yet.

I really hope the original ending is part of the BD release, but if it's not, at least we are getting the film in HD.

I can always fire up my (first pressing) DVD for the original ending...

So...does this mean that they managed to colourise the ending?!!! Looks like you might be able to choose to watch either version of the film as well! This Blu-Ray is a day one purchase if this is the case!!
