It was just an idle guess based on a post a few pages back. But thank you for the clarification anyway Mr. "Criterion Collection Fixx"*.

Just send back the disc in a manila envelope or something. Use the cheapest packaging you can find. Heck, you could even wrap the disc in a piece of paper taped shut and send it back. It doesn't matter because I'm sure that all of the returned discs are being trashed by Criterion.
Expect to see commemorative Criterion drink coasters available soon, featuring pictures of Three Colors White or Carlos

I've seen my ID shortened to "Doc" or "Dr", but to be honest, I'm not a real doctor
In fact, I'm not even a fake doctor
But I have been known to wear bike shorts

I wait to see what nick folks seem most comfortable with Dr.

FWIW, my real name is not Bill Haley, or even Bill, and last I checked, I'm not deceased either. Although apparently, in some circles here, my name is mud.

Not bored at all. I simply replied to you by your username. However, you're completely off-base with my username since the CC represents my first and last name and has nothing to do with Criterion. Thanks for playing, though.

You mean those unmistakable "barfing 'C's" had nothing to do with Criterion?

Right. Check. Next!

Christopher Nolan is another one who can apparently do no wrong in the eyes of the people I associate. Again, this feels like people are trying to push films/directors on me, by saying that I'm making assumptions and/or generalisations, and that I am just assuming a certain film maker to be too elitist for my tastes.

I don't consider them to be elitist, quite the opposite actually. If you want elitist film making, watch Henry Jaglom. I also think that your comment about the Coens being very smart, and how it shows in their film making, is a bit off putting, because it implies that most people who don't enjoy their films, or think they are elitist film makers, are not intelligent enough to understand their films. I think some of the fans of the Coens act more elitist than anything.

Regarding Gilliam, a lot of the issues with his films often have to do with his poor luck, and his lack of control.
You make some valid points, but I think you might be taking my comments a bit personally. It wasn't meant to imply that folks you or folks who don't like the Coens or specific movies of theirs are not intelligent - far from it. I think their films are quite easy to follow.

I guess I was trying to get across the idea that the Coens have a particular knack for bending the genres that they choose to work in, and injecting their films with all sorts of funny asides that merit repeat viewings. I think 'A Serious Man' is a prime example - I could watch that film over and over - it is 'deadly serious' but also excruciatingly funny in a very dark sort of way. I'm no expert on Jewish humour, but it seems like the ultimate expression of it. I suppose that's not everyone's cup of tea.

I am certainly not trying to push films or filmmakers onto you, I'm just responding to some of your comments.

I had the opportunity to view Island of Lost Souls this evening on a large screen rear projection HDTV. (I believe about 80") I noticed something that I didn't see before when using my 40" Sony LCD.

[Show spoiler]Ouran drools while watching Ruth undress from below her window. This is right before he climbs the tree and bends the bars open in an attempt to rape her.

A wicked scene.

Well, Criterion has something that the Master of Cinema sets doesn't have: Godzilla, Traffic, Seven Outlaw Samurai, so both labels have their unique titles, my 2 cents.

Looks like I'm a bit late to the game here, didn't know there was a Coen brothers debate going on. The Coens happen to be my favorite filmmakers. Out of their large oeuvre they've made maybe one or two movies that aren't so great. I actually think they're good at appealing to mass audiences and people with more refined taste. Now I'm not sure what this has to do with Criterion since the collection has no Coen movies in it (not that I know of).

Also, is it strange that Blood Simple is my favorite movie of their's? I mean it was their debut so it's kinda like me saying my fav directors went downhill after their first film.

I think I've had my fill of skipping over the Coen Brothers posts. How about we discuss today's releases, old sports?

Besides the film from the clue. What do you expect?

It'd be nice to see Harold and Maude announced. Naturally, just give me Hiroshima Mon Amour and I'm satisfied for April.

I certainly didn't write anything special.

Hi Jon,
I believe replacements discs are now available for White.
What is the process for this exchange?
Since I will also need a replacement disc for Carlos, should I send both discs at the same time?
Can you confirm there will be no issues mailing the replacements to Australia?

Maybe you need to just keep trying...

There's no need to get an email reply in re: White. Just do what the general email from JM said. Once they get your disc they'll email you the $10 code.
