Default Dragonheart - March 27, 2012

DragonHeart Blu-ray pre-order March 27

When will DragonHeart be out on Blu-ray? I know it had an HD DVD release so why hasn't it been released on Blu-ray yet?

I liked this a lot. The part when Quaid was on his horse talking to the dragon as he flew around him sounds pretty cool on the DVD. I can't imagine what it would sound like on Blu!

I don't get it, it came out on HD DVD so what's taking so long for a Blu Ray release?

I agree, this seems like a no brainer... This movies not uber-popular, so I'm betting the wait isn't based on some grand re-release scheme from Universal. But, it's tailor-made for Bluray.

What's taking so long?

Just a simple question as the gf and I watched How to Train Your Dragon last night and this came up. Anyone think it'll ever hit? Or wanna see it come out? It's my favorite dragon movie, with Dragonslayer a close second...

Starz has been showing it in HD all month on my U-verse. Looks OK...although the HD brings out the poor (older) CGI work on the dragon. It would be nice if they did some post work on blending the dragon scenes for the BD release, but doubt it.

HA! Yeah right, this is Universal we're talking about. They couldn't even port over all the extras from the dvd. 0% chance they go to added work of polishing up older cgi for an improved release.
Typical Universal, just do enough to get by on catalog releases. So many wasted opportunities.

Anyone know if this got remastered? The HD DVD was the old DVD master slathered with EE and it looked rather mediocre.

VERY strange, considering the HD DVD had all of the extras. check out the import version. That might have all of them.

I appreciate the info, but about the only thing I import are steelbooks. Plus screw Universal, and their lackadaisical catalog releases!

Sorry to say no remaster. Just the usual Universal DNR job

In my opinion, the HD DVD looks better in that screen shot comparison.

It's weird they still put DNR to movies. Fans of HD movies hate DNR, and the studios actually have to "work more" to "update" the HD-DVD transfert with a DNR filter. It should be lazier for them (spending less time with a catalog movie) to just burn a Blu-ray with the HD-DVD source, knowing fans hate DNR from the start...

Anyway...
