Most titles have already been produced & are being stocked 2-3 weeks prior, waiting for the street date. Some slip through. That's how you sometimes see pics on here from people with BDs in hand that early.

I think I'll just rent this for now, hoping that a more definitive edition will appear sometime next year (if the director has his way).

![]() Seriously, I've never been this enamored with a film so long after its release. A genuine life-changing classic. Certainly enough to take me from "I'd be interested in pursuing a filmmaking career" before, to, "**** things potentially not working out, this is what I have to try and do with my life." Maybe it's just me though. This movie is for sure the best of the last decade for me. |

That said, if the film is that "life changing", why wasn't it nominated or win for any Golden Globes this weekend? |

Golden Globe Nominees are just films that the Hollywood Foreign Press voted on. Just because a film isn't nominated, or doesn't win does not mean it is not worthy of time and attention, it just means the HFP didn't pick it over others.

I'm hesitant to use the "these awards shows are meaningless" line in the past, but after seeing Pitt and Jonah Hill nominated for their roles in Moneyball, Tina Fey get shafted, and shows like Community and Parks and Rec not even nominated, it's starting to feel like a huge circle jerk of a back-patting ceremony for certain producers and production houses, and their buddies. I've not seen The Artist yet, and it looks good, but the Globes seem to be some weird mix of legitimately quality films, films that are only there because the studio lobbied hard, and then really shitty television. Was Breaking Bad nominated for anything at all this year? 30 Rock wasn't, but four episodes of New Girl justified a nomination. The Tree of Life was also nowhere to be found (I didn't think it was a masterpiece like others said, though I was insanely hyped to see it, but how is it not at least a nominee? Cosmic scenes were enthralling.), but The Help was all over the place. |

Man I've been reading some great things about this movie, especially from you guys, I hope I'm not disappointed (however Ryan Gosling has yet to disappoint me in the films I've seen of his)
![]() Def will be picking up the Canadian release since it has that cool slipcover (NOT the futureshop one, I don't really care for that one) |
