I had to give my 'details' to the police twice this year.

Some idiot off eBay said I'd stole his mobile phone (which he had had in his possession all the time but he harangued the police saying there had been a crime) and 2nd when I refused to pay a £1.00 'charge' to exit Edinburgh Airport.

People are becoming more paranoid [for a good reason] and it seems to me this affects a lot of people and they end up thinking the police aught to be involved. For anything.

Nothing surprises me really but I'd not expect the Guernsey Police CID at my door for a £7 Blu-ray. Saying that the Royal Mail (as a "legal authority") do have the right to tap your phone without a court warrant of any sort. Don't even mention the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000.

So, be careful out there

I'm not sure, i've had this happen to me before when I ordered a limited edition digibook from Korea, it arrived sealed but had no disk inside or the special art cards that it was meant to have but I managed to get my situation resolved, what you want to do is take it back to the store and tell them what's happend make sure you explain it properly because I get the feeling HMV's customer service is a little on the crap side so they may not be very sympathetic but once you've explained youself i'm sure they'll give you a replacement.

[Show spoiler]

If I were you I'd phone ahead and ask for the manager, hopefully you won't have any problems.
I've had this happen to me a couple of times in GAME, when they've bagged the shelf copy by mistake. In HMV I've only ever had the red sucurity tag left in.

Great, glad you were able to get it sorted. Nice swap on the Scarface steelbook too.

This brought me out in a cold sweat, I have a little pile of unopened DVD's and Blu's. The single disc ones are fine as you can usually feel the disc rattling around the hub but it's pot-luck whether the discs are all present and correct with the boxsets!

But it did surprise me a little that Amazon, huge as they are, actually had bothered with further investigation for a couple of cheap BDs. Maybe it's a bigger problem than one might think. But that was the last I heard of it anyhow.

A little trivia, the woman from the Royal Mail had a last name that was basically pronounced Swindle. No joke. I thought that was kind of amusing.
It is a big problem. Wordwide, it's over a $billion problem. People claim that packages don't show up. Many times they call the credit card company and ask that the charge be removed. If that happens too often, the credit card processor ups the fees that sellers must pay.

Some years ago I worked in the Infomercial business and we simply stopped selling to some countries because the level of fraud was so high. Just about everyone claimed they never got a package.

And although overall, I think all the delivery services, whether public or private, do a pretty good job, there's always a certain level of fraud at that level as well where packages "disappear". When I was a kid, I knew someone who worked for the postal service and who stole record club packages. He didn't think it was a big deal because the packages would be replaced.

It is indeed a big problem worldwide. However, I doubt there's much they can do especially when it comes to international orders without tracking number. Honestly, I've had tens of parcels gone missing over the past couple of years and most of them from the UK.
