I doubt they'd want to change that as they've always stated the novels are cannon and the general plots are approved by Lucas or his representatives etc. So making it take place say 20 or 30 years after ROTJ would erase all the other novels that take place in that time span.

I'd guess if they ever make episodes 7-9, it will take place after all the current novels. Feature Luke as an old man in an Obi-Wan/Yoda role leading a rebuilt Jedi Order against some new threat.

Isn't there a big gap between where the books have ended and one of the comic book series starts? I am not talking about what happens in them to avoid spoiler tags, but just the time periods...
