I guess I am because of all of the Box Sets I have. However I do not have the Godfather Box Set. I guess it depends more on the price for me. If I can get a good deal on the franchise, then I usually buy it.

I'm usually quite the completist with film franchises I enjoy. I do own all the movies for "Star Wars," "Star Trek," 007, "Batman," "X-Men," "Transformers," "Terminator," etc.

But, there are some franchises where I like the first movie or so many movies but won't bother getting them all. Mostly for horror franchises, like "Halloween" or "Nightmare on Elm Street."

So, I voted for "depends on franchise."

I'm not going to buy just to continue a set or series. It depends on the content, otherwise I couldn't care less to finish what I started.

i tried getting into,my grandma is a huge fan of trek she reads all the books and used to watch them on tv i just couldnt get into it though

It depends. But heavily lean towards collecting all of it.

I am willing to collect mediocre movies to have a complete collection (Fast & Furious, Chronicles of Narnia) And if it comes in a nice box set packaging, I'm willing to even buy a bad movie to have a complete collection.(Battle Royale 2, Shrek 3, Godfather 3) But if I started collecting individually and there is one I really hate (Mummy 3) then I will skip it. - Unless I can get it really really cheap (Boondock Saints 2 - got it for $1 used)

i try and do that aswell,if theres a franchise i can get for cheap i would go that route, but if they can be individually purchased i would take this one,can never see myself owning tokyo drift

perfect example the battle royale complete set that was beyond cheap earlier this week for 19.99 so many were leaning for the standard edition which is 19.99 but to won both films for the same price it was a no brainer for most

I don't see the point anymore... back to the whole Bond Blu Ray thing. People are looking to unload or box up the Bond Blus they already bought so that they can get another copy of the same movie with probly just new cover art when it comes out this fall. Don't they realize it probly 3-5 years they will repackage these things again. Nothing is ever complete as long as companies are in the business of making money.

As someone who has both Batman & Robin and Halloween: Resurrection in their collection, I suppose the answer would have to be yes.

Collecting for the sake of collecting bothers me. It has to be something I will pull off the shelf and enjoy at least a couple times a year. Leroy Jones had an article called "Hunting Is Not Those Heads on the Wall." It's true. Movies are not those blu-ray cases on your shelf. It's what you experience while watching the images and listening to the sounds.

Yes, but at the same time the Bond set looks like it'll be the most deluxe set ever released for Bond, so I'm getting. Sometimes just because something is re-released multiple times, it doesn't make it better with each new release. I still own the Ultimate Edition DVDs from 2006 as I waited for such a Bond Blu-ray release, and that was 6 years ago and for me that's certainly long enough ago to upgrade to this new set.

I wouldn't be buying it if I didn't think it would have some longivity, and that's what I base my purchasing of box sets on.

Yes.

There are exceptions, for example I don't think you need to own The Godfather III since it's basically an afterthought and never needed to be made, but I still feel some kind of compulsion to own everything in a series, even if it kind of sucks.

X-Men The Last Stand, for example.

Yes, when it comes to franchises. Even TV shows. If Season 1 of a show is amazing and the next 5 seasons are trash, I'd need to own them all eventually.

It all depends on the franchise. I would buy the Nightmare On Elm Street franchise but not the entire Friday The 13th franchise. I would buy the original American Pie franchise but not the extracurricular films.

In every sense of the word, but being a completist doesn't mean I have to buy every BD there is, just the ones I want. I won't stop until I buy every BD on my wish-list.

I try and only buy the installments I like, but I'm also a fan of good packaging and having things as soon as possible, so many times I will buy the entire series, even if I don't enjoy every single movie.

It definitely depends on the franchise. For instance, I really like all of the X-Men films except for Wolverine (it's decent), but I have it anyway because I got it for cheap. However, I only have Batman and Batman Returns of the original four films because Forever and Batman & Robin were so awful. I also only have Superman, Superman II, and Superman Returns because III and IV were atrocious.
