Maybe your grandchildren will have 1440p. It took about 60 years to get where we are now & still HDtv's & HD stuff (HD channels , BD players & HD OTA) is still a small market. Sales for HDtv are picking up fast, but still most HDtv's are not hooked-up to any HD source.

OLED, I am looking forword too these TV's & hopefuly Sony & Samung in a few years (3-4years) will beable to make a 60"+ one for under $3K. As time goes by people will, should, beable to get a 60"+ OLED for under $2K. OLED is cheeper to make then LCD & Plasma, the but part is OLED needs to be made in a Oxygen Free environment, because if the O in the OLED in exposed Oxygen, it's lifespan is Greatly reduced. So far Samsung had a Demo 32" at the CES this year & Sony just had a 11" & 26"(?). Sony will have the 11" for sale in a few months in the US, Samsung has not said when they will release an OLED, but they will eather late this year or next year.
