I'm slightly disappointed with Paramount's decision to release only one catalogue title per month. That's to modest(by modest i mean lazy and indifference)! They need to look up to WB and Universal;they releasing about 40 catalogue titles per year-that's acceptable.I mean, they are major players, with so many great classics in their vault. How long we should wait to see them all released on BD?With this tempo, about 20 years for sure :/
Latest announcements(Clue,Clueless,Barbarella and Hondo) are dissapointing as well.Don't get me wrong - i LOVE Clue.Hondo look good too;Barbarella is a campy classic, etc but i expected some essential releases for 100th anniversary like Sunset Blvd.,Marathon Man,Stalag 17,Shane (they own so many great westerns) Indiana Jones...only 4 places left until the end of year.
Check some of the Paramount's classics:
Sunset Blvd.,The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance ,Stalag 17,El Dorado ,The Sons of Katie Elder ,Seconds Seven Men From Now,Sophie's Choice,Shane,Paper Moon,Don't Look Now,Hud,The Parallax View,The Tenant,Nashville,The Shootist,Sorcerer,Heaven Can Wait,Ordinary People,Atlantic City,The Duellists,Witness,Gallipoli,Marathon Man,Escape From Alcatraz ,Seven Days in May,The Addams Family 1&2,War of the Worlds,Rosemary's Baby,Gunfight at the O.K. Corral,The Odd Couple,Sabrina (54),A Place In the Sun,etc.
Hoping their rule about one catalogue title per month will change in the future;also expressing the hope that Criterion will get the licence for many movies that i've mentioned.Cheers.
