I don't know anything about the UK, but I believe the North American press release for the Diamond line listed all of the titles that were supposed to be released as Diamond Editions, and Aladdin was not among the titles listed. On the other hand, I believe Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 were both listed, but they ended up not being released as Diamonds.

hopefully they don't do a half ass transfer with The Rescuers & The Rescuers Down Under like they did with my favorite Disney movie The fox and the hound.
ill still buy it either way most likely since i love both of the rescuers movies. Also cant wait for Aladdin. |

Ah, so happy right now! I'm such a Disney nerd! I've been waiting for news like this! Can't wait to own DAY ONE:
2012: -Lady and the Tramp -The Rescuers/TRDU -Pocahontas -The Aristocats -Cinderella 2013 (if we're still alive): -Aladdin I wouldn't mind a combo pack of The Rescuers/TRDU much like I didn't mind the Fantasia/2000 combo pack once I realized I liked paying for two movies all in one. However, I don't like placing the cheapquels together, but I'll live so long as I have the movie I want. Just as long as they don't spike up the price just because it "INCLUDES BOTH FUN AND EQUALLY AMAZING MOVIES!" I can't remember if I liked Pocahontas II though. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't one of the best DTVs made (that honor belongs to the likes of Return of Jafar, Simba's Pride, and An Enchanted Christmas). Let's just say it wasn't as bad as The Fox and the Hound II. Anyway, I'm happy about Aristocats. I loved that film as a kid, and was shocked to hear it would be coming out before so many other beloved Disney films. And I'm happy to hear Aladdin is finally coming out. I wonder if maybe they'll do a 3D release for it (on Blu-ray and in theaters) because I certainly would want both as it is my 2nd favorite Disney movie of all time. I'm just hoping that with the release of Aladdin in 2013 that maybe finally we will see the release of Hunchback of Notre Dame and Hercules. Those films are so, so deserving! I'd love to hear the orchestra and choir of "The Bells of Notre Dame" and "Hellfire" in DTS-HD. |

Though the press release didn't expressly say when any titles after BatB & Fantasia were coming out, it was implied from the grouping (and their Platinum order) that we would see TLK & Bambi in 2011 and Cinderella & LatT in 2012--both correct, but in reverse order each year (not unexpected as TLK & Cinderella were both clearly better suited for the October slot). Continuing that implication, the idea was that Peter Pan would be February or March 2013 while TLM would be October 2013. With TLM 3D hitting theaters in September 2013, it's almost certain TLM (2D & 3D) is staying on course for the following month, like TLK. However, with Aladdin now in the spring 2013 window, that implies one of three things has happened to Peter Pan:

The only release that was initially planned was a single screen 1 week limited engagement at Disney's El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood blvd.(that was to be preceeded by a 3 week release for B&B 3D there exclusively as well) Once pre order ticket sales sold out within days of being available for most of the opening weekend thats when Disney decided to go with the wide 3D release of Lion King 3D, they also dropped B&B 3D back to 2 weeks for its Sept El capitan run as well. After the huge opening weekend for Lion King 3D nationwide thats when Disney decided to go ahead with the wide release of B&B 3D in Jan. Dont be surprised if Little Mermaid 3D doesnt arrive on bluray till the spring of2014, personally I hope thats not the case and that it does indeed come October 2013, but i am prepared to hear that its going to be 2014 home video release. And just think if Disney had not shelved the wide release of Beauty and the Beast 3D from 2011 after it had been originally planned for 2010, they might have made more money than they did than having the wide release a few months after the bluray 3D release, instead of the big drop that it saw last weekend. just remember Disney typically programs its animated classics to play at its El Capitan theatre in the days and weeks prior to its home video re release, for example Lady and the Tramp is going to start playing there following the end of the second run of B&B 3D on Feb 3rd. And They set there show times and the movies they are programing to play there typically 8-12 months in advance as they only show disney movies. I don't think Disney ever expected The Lion King 3D to be such a big hit in theaters as it turned out to be, and the 3D Blu-ray was widely available during its entire run, so my guess is that they've learned from this and will leave the future of theatrical rereleases separate from the home video releases, which instead surely will follow soon after the theatrical run. I at least think it's almost certain that TLM will be the fall title of 2013, but it will be interesting to see what they've planned for 2014 as well. Also, I hope that Aladdin will be available in 3D. The magic carpet scenes and the vast shots of the desert and Agrabah have the potential for incredible depth and pop. |

in response to your thoughts about TLM 3D blu, its entirely possible they could have it be a 2013 release and just push it back to December 2013 a few weeks before XMAS giving the theatrical re release a cushy little window and still sell alot of units for the holiday season. definately going to be interesting to see what the plans are Last edited by WJWS Channel 13:Amity; 01-26-2012 at 08:31 AM. |

Could be that the "Parents must show their kids!" novelty had worn off, or that B&B doesn't have the repeat value, or simply that B&B 3D was already on disk so our mouths couldn't water early, but looks like Lion King 3D is back to being an unexplainable fluke again. ![]() IIRC, lightning didn't strike twice way back on the IMAX releases, either. (And was it B&B or LK that had flopped?) Last edited by EricJ; 01-26-2012 at 08:37 AM. |

They are not considered Diamond releases officially (even if the disc info when looking at the properties listing while in your bluray drive say diamond)

![]() The Great Mouse Detective is just an all around great film, so that one's a given as well. None of them have DTV sequels either, right? So the dreaded combo pack syndrome shouldn't be anything to worry about there either ![]() |

This is pretty exciting. Disney is the only studio I'll consistently buy every release from.
Looking forward to them all, even Tinker Bell and the Secret of the Wings. Hell, especially Tinker Bell. The plots of these movies are decent and the animation is just top notch. They look amazing on Blu-ray, as good as any Pixar title. I don't see how you can call yourself a Disney fan and not like the Tinker Bell movies. I wonder when they'll release Pixie Hollow Games on Blu-ray. Hopefully it's a bonus feature on Secret of the Wings? Disappointed there's no Mulan in the list, but they'll probably do that one in 2013 so they can do a "15th Anniversary" release. Can't have an anniversary that doesn't end in a 0 or a 5, can we? :/ |
