I agree. The Artist was amazing and probably should win (and will). I never expected Drive to win I thought it at least would get a nomination.

What's up with all these mix signals. Target's ad makes it seem like it does have a slipcover.

Didn't anyone get this early and posted some pics of it? I'm surprised.

i've been looking not sure. I've been set on this not having a slip, so if it does that would be a bonus, either way im not getting my hopes up

I've seen it, and it's really good, especially considering the "limitations" it's working with, but I don't think it's Best Picture.

I'm halfway through with the book (started reading it yesterday) and it's completely different than the movie. The characters' names are one of the only things that are the same between book and movie.

For example:
[Show spoiler]There are two women in the book, instead of one like there is in the movie. The mother of Benicio in the book dies about halfway through.

Blanche shoots another character (not Standard) during a botched robbery.

There's a major character named Doc that is completely missing from the movie.

Shannon is a top stunt-car driver in Hollywood in the book.

Driver goes on several missions with Standard and they become something like friends. Standard even asks Driver to watch over Irina and Benicio if something happens to him. In the movie, his attitude toward Driver is much more antagonistic.

I'm sure there's a lot more but those are some major things I can think of off the top of my head.

So far, I have to say I'm not a huge fan of the book, but that's probably more because I'm comparing it to the movie, which I thought was one of the best movies of the last few years. The story is a HUGE improvement over the book.

I got it today from Amazon, no slip. So unless Target has an exclusive that no one knows about, it doesn't come with one. I'm pretty sure this isn't the first time that Target has had a movie in their ad that looks like it'll have a slipcover and doesn't

Isn't it just the worst? I just bought mine and what matters is the actual film, obviously, but I cannot get over how bad the cover is. This masterpiece deserves better.

I'm about to blind-buy this too. I promised my wife I wouldn't do that anymore, but man, I've heard so many wonderful things about this movie.

Plus I downloaded the soundtrack and I loved it.

The soundtrack is one of the best thing's about the film. Makes the movie just that much more mesmerizing.
