In a recent interview with Anna Gunn (plays the part of Skyler)- she says the 5th and final season will be shown in two parts, or mini-seasons. Production for the first 8 episodes starts soon and will be shown this year, and the final 8 episodes will probably begin filming in winter 2013.
The interview said "winter", but that seems an awfully long time off...that can't be right. |

That's a shame. I was hoping we'd get 8 episodes in the summer/fall and then a hiatus like the one we got for The Walking Dead and then it starts right back up in February. Doesn't make sense to have a hiatus in production; just shoot it all in one go.
Just seems too expensive unless there's a purpose, like jumping ahead in time or something. |

I hope that's how it goes. AMC doesn't need to milk this show. |

That would be a sh!tty move IMO....dragging it out like that. That really isnt a season 5 completion. Its a mini season 5 and a mini season 6. Cheap. |

I believe the original intention was to be filming all 16 episodes in one setting and then the first 8 would be in July and then the final 8 would be in early 2013, but now it seems like they really are pushing it all the way to summer 2013. so really it is only a 4 month longer delay from the original schedule. As long as the episodes are awesome (Sure they will be)...doesn't really bother me. Plus we are already getting 3 bonus episodes anyways.

Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan has re-upped with Sony Pictures TV, a studio spokesperson confirmed to THR. The deal keeps Gilligan at Sony into summer 2013 encompassing production on the final 16 episodes of Gilligan's AMC series.
Production on the final season – which will air in two batches of eight episodes – is set to begin in March. AMC and Gilligan announced last summer that the series would come to a close. And Gilligan’s new deal with Sony calls for him to develop subsequent projects there. There you have it, it is officially confirmed that they will film eight episodes in March 2012 and eight more in March 2013. |

![]() I can almost guarantee that Gilligan won't be working purely on BB in 2013 also either ![]() |
