Obligatory "just wait" response.

Seriously, though, you have some great television in store for you.

Did a quick search and didn't see it come up in the thread. I also asked this on BB's imdb boards but didn't receive many answers.

[Show spoiler]At the end of 'Problem Dog', when Hank is introducing his findings/theory about Gus to his DEA friends, I could've sworn the intention of the producers/actors was to lead us (viewers) to believe that these two DEA agents were corrupt.

After watching that scene twice, I was 100% sure that these 2 DEA agents were corrupt and on Gus's payroll. And in the episode 'Hermanos', I still thought they were corrupt when they brought Gus in to question him. But it never went anywhere and now I guess that wasn't the producers intention at all.

If you can't remember their expressions, go re-watch the ending of it and you'll see that the 2 DEA agent's expression has that "oh *beep* he's going to find Gus" type of look.

Or it was the producers' intention and will revisit it in the next season (I doubt it).

In a recent interview with Anna Gunn (plays the part of Skyler)- she says the 5th and final season will be shown in two parts, or mini-seasons. Production for the first 8 episodes starts soon and will be shown this year, and the final 8 episodes will probably begin filming in winter 2013.

The interview said "winter", but that seems an awfully long time off...that can't be right.

That's a shame. I was hoping we'd get 8 episodes in the summer/fall and then a hiatus like the one we got for The Walking Dead and then it starts right back up in February. Doesn't make sense to have a hiatus in production; just shoot it all in one go.

Just seems too expensive unless there's a purpose, like jumping ahead in time or something.

I took their reaction as they were thinking oh hell, he is gonna screw things up with this rich fat cat who helps us with his charity work / $.

There's no way that's true. The first 8 episodes air this Summer. I'm expecting The Walking Dead to air after that, then when that takes a break, Breaking Bad will resume.

I hope that's how it goes. AMC doesn't need to milk this show.

I'm pretty sure they said they want 2 separate enough seasons so they can get multiple nominations

I was seriously hoping they'd give us a 12 episode full season and four two hour (aired) episodes miniseries to wrap it up.

There was no chance of that ever happening. Like I said, they want the show to be able to keep building on its growing fan base and be eligible to get more nominations and more awards.

So you are saying the second half of season 5 will air in 2013 (summerish)?

That would be a sh!tty move IMO....dragging it out like that. That really isnt a season 5 completion. Its a mini season 5 and a mini season 6. Cheap.

Call it more of a dream than anything else. Though I do think they could get away with making out with more Emmy nominations if they'd go the route I'd wish they go in. Though Gilligan and crew seem more interested in storytelling than awards.

AMC on the other hand...

I believe the original intention was to be filming all 16 episodes in one setting and then the first 8 would be in July and then the final 8 would be in early 2013, but now it seems like they really are pushing it all the way to summer 2013. so really it is only a 4 month longer delay from the original schedule. As long as the episodes are awesome (Sure they will be)...doesn't really bother me. Plus we are already getting 3 bonus episodes anyways.

Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan has re-upped with Sony Pictures TV, a studio spokesperson confirmed to THR. The deal keeps Gilligan at Sony into summer 2013 encompassing production on the final 16 episodes of Gilligan's AMC series.

Production on the final season – which will air in two batches of eight episodes – is set to begin in March. AMC and Gilligan announced last summer that the series would come to a close. And Gilligan’s new deal with Sony calls for him to develop subsequent projects there.

There you have it, it is officially confirmed that they will film eight episodes in March 2012 and eight more in March 2013.

Errrm, no, read it again, Production on the final series begins in March and have to be finished by Summer 2013 when Gillian's contract finishes. What you've bolded says it will AIR the season in two batches

Its not clear. It doesnt even say when the first batch will begin airing. It says Gilligan is contracted through summer 2013, but also that he will be developing other stuff. So which is it? The new stuff in 2013, or BB?

Frustrating.

Indeed, I think we can be certain they'll be filming both parts of the series together at least, maybe a little bit of a gap between the shooting of the two to allow the actors the branch out. I can probably make a safe bet at the first half of the series airing maybe towards the beginning of September before The Walking Dead will start it's series 3

I can almost guarantee that Gilligan won't be working purely on BB in 2013 also either
