The correct amount of space is actually 3,900 GB. Will they come out? Yes but it all depends on when. Honestly I don't quite see the need for discs with this big of a storage capacity being necessary for anything at this point in time.

Holodiscs exhibit a potential that isn't yet necessary, at least until 4K rears it's head. Streaming is everywhere but 4K will make a mockery of even the best projected speeds available (and only to a select few). People will still want to own a physical copy of the 4K movie they just shelled out mega-bucks on. Special editions are very popular.

Where Holodiscs really excel is in 4K gaming, where the mind-boggling space available will be gobbled up VERY quickly. Only the console makers can blaze that trail: PC gaming is a niche.

1 two layer BD = 50 GB; 1TB = 1,000 GB;
1 HVD holds about 78 Movies: 1,000 / 50 = 20; 20 x 3.9 = 78.
So I would need 4 HVD discs to hold 300 Blu-ray movies: 300 / 78 = 3.84.
I would love to have 'em.

My guess is no (but it would be cool if they did). The issue is with digital/cloud storage they would need to be cheap for companies/home owners to look at them as an alternative for backups. As for content distribution, there is an other even bigger issue. BD's, DVD's, CD's are replicated, that means that there is a machine that takes all the raw materials/chemicals for those disks and creates the disk with the content in place in a few seconds. On the other hand with recordable media it would take much longer to produce a disk and be much costlier. At this point, I have not read of anyone even coming close to making HVD replicatable. So until that happens there is no way they will be used for movie distribution.
