Still not sure...the US version is very tempting but it won't go with the Boardwalk Empire set I have. Oh well, if I can't get it for $40 then I'll be getting the US set defiantly.
Can't wait for the walking dead. LordCrumb, did you get it. Apparently it's out in NZ.

I've had the US edition for a while now.. waiting for the local set to drop to $30 before I get it to replace my US edition (depending if I can get rid of it)..

As for Game of Thrones, you've probably read already but I've pre-ordered the US set for now, as I really really like Digipacks, and the embossing on the US release looks quite nice too. At the moment, with the how the NZ dollar is, the US set is also cheaper than what the local edition will be in NZ.. not by much, but enough.

The good thing about the local GOT release for some, would be the smaller case I think, I know some people like large boxes, others like small boxes to keep their sizes down on their shelves..

Not to derail the thread, but Beyond Home Entertainment are releasing The Walking Dead and all the official specs they've sent out say Dolby Digital audio. I'm hoping it's an error and it's TrueHD like the US but being that they're a sister company of Magna there's a chance it might be right.

As for Game of Thrones, the US release at $35 is majorly tempting. Especially considering the fact we've been shafted on packaging changes for HBO releases through Warner Bros previously (True Blood for example).

It will be the JB exclusive edt for me.
I don't have a region free player so the awesome US edt is a no go
Either way, at the end of the day, the show is AWESOME and thats the main thing.
Sometimes we (myself 100% included) get a little stuck up on packaging etc and lose sight of the main thing, the actual movie/tv show. I, myself am a major offender of this, I have bought numerous movies that I don't really want/like just because of the 'collectors' aspect.
I guess it is just part of being a blu-ray fanatic

Hahah, you hit the nail right on the head I do sometimes get caught up with packaging over the content but the only deciding factor is price. If its going to cost more than $15 more than the US to get the AUS version, I'll pass and either import or wait for the 20% sale

Did anyone else notice this deal at JB??

Buy Game of Thrones and get 50% off any other HBO purchase!!! Doesn't say if it includes Blu-rays for the 50% off part, but if it does that is an awesome deal

it depends on who distributes the Blu ray, Deadwood was only locked because it was distributed by Paramount outside of the US, where most others are done world wide by Warner.

I thought I was the only one, but I also prefer standard Amaray cases. So I'd like to get it from here, preferably JB, but not at $65.

I'll check the back of the box of the NZ release next time I am in town.. not a 100% correct way of finding out, but some indication maybe..

Yeah I prefer the blue amarey cases over the digi-paks for that exact reason. I can design my own covers & buy 6 disc amareys like I did for the 'Band of Brothers & The Pacific' boxset. If I have too. But generally prefer to buy releases already packed in the blue cases. Saves the hassle & additional cost.

Though I want that extra 6th disc thats in the limited edition so I may have to buy that version.
