Can't you buy on bestbuys website for in store pick up? They will hold it for like a week or so.

You never know. At my local B&N, the clerk just gave me the last one they had, without requiring that I buy an HBO release, but as it turned out, I was buying one. They had the John Adams mini-series marked down. Add the membership card discount, and a 20% off any one item coupon, and I got the mini for $25.

B&N's usual prices aren't anything to crow about, but if you look around you can find some (seemingly) random discount pricing. I picked up the Blu set of The Prisoner there at 50% off (plus 10% member discount), and my local store has a copy of the complete Farscape set marked at 50% (plus 10% member discount). I almost always find something at a great price whenever I go there.

They hold for 8 days. If you don't pick up the charge reverts to your card.

Man....where was this stuff back in the early 80's when I was on Ramstein AFB! The good ole Stars & Stripes bookstore was my only real outlet!

If you're lucky, they might dispatch it the day before. If you chose free shipping, they might ship it a few days after the release date.
