Ended up getting the regular edition tonight (well, my dad bought it and he picked that version, but it'll be in my collection after he's done with it). The others were cool, but it didn't really matter to me to be honest.

I didn't realize the regular edition was a slipcover also, but again, it doesn't matter that much to me.

Love this show!

Yep. Commentary is "6 English." I tried playing it on my PS3 and guess what? Commentary track turns on just fine. Out of curiosity, are you using a Panasonic player? That's my main player and the one where the commentary won't turn on.

Nope, mine's a Sony. I haven't tried my PS3 yet. As far as glitches go, this one isn't a big deal for me. In the days of DVD, I never played commentaries from the menu, so shuffling through the audio tracks is an old habit anyway.

Ack, my Best Buy was sold out of the Stark editions when I arrived at 10:30 this morning, so I grabbed one of the last Targaryen sets. Boo for settling!

I only got 20 min left of John Adams then GoT is going in, can't wait. Watched JA straight through, pretty good. Once I am done with GoT I have Generation Kill to watch for the first time.

I popped in a disc or two to check out some of the extras. I find it a bit annoying that the extras menus are the same on each disc - meaning each disc lists the same extras regardless of whether that extra is on the disc or not. A specific example: each disc lists "Anatomy of an Episode". After selecting it, you get a text description and the option to play. After hitting play, it tells you it's only available on episode 6 on disc 3. Each disc seemingly re-encodes all of the "Complete Guide" extras - a waste of space in my opinion. Oh well, just nitpicking. Otherwise, the presentation is great.

LOL, listening to the commentary of "The Kingsroad" right now; Lena Headey likes her cursing, doesn't she?

I really liked being able to watch the entire season (had recorded them all on the PVR) over a weekend. I find doing so drew you into the story much more than if you had a week break between each episode...

So the answer would be record them each week off HBO and watch them all together after episode 10 airs. Why wait til next March for the BD?

As to the covers, there r more than enough houses should BB continue the practice. Stark was obvious choice for season one as it centers around the Stark family. I prolly would have saved Targaryan for later. If they were determined to do one for Daeranys, something Dothraki would have been more apt. I might expect to see the Stag and the Lion next year. Another choice might have been to put a Stark on the cover each season.

Or someone different each season sitting in the Iron Throne.

I expect each BD set will use that season's respective poster. For Season 2, they'll likely use the image released just last week of the hand grasping up and clutching the crown. It's the image being used on the new HBO tie-in edition of A Clash of Kings (just as Ned sitting on the throne was used for the tie-in edition of A Game of Thrones).

I've never caught a minute of this show, but after the positive reviews and at
this price I may break down and buy it

well went today and was able to price-match to the BB price of $34.99

however they gave me the 'can't double up with price-match and coupon'
excuse.. I was fine with it since I didn't have to pay sales tax.. go home and
check the Exchange website for the coupon policy and it strictly states the
following:

Coupon policy when combining with the Exchange "We Price Match" policy:
One manufacturer and one Exchange coupon may then be applied to the item
unless prohibited by either coupon.

so obviously they were wrong and I'll be going back tomorrow for my $10

any Exchange patrons on this site.. jump on this offer

I have that problem with my Sony BD player. I had to unplug the player because it would lock up without ever loading disc 1. After plugging it back in, the disc will load. I haven't tried disc 1 in the PS3.
