by the way maybe this is a Canadian thing (see you are from there) because I see no such thing in my copy

I was on the fence still about purchasing the set. I finally blind bought it, and I must say after the first two episodes.......WOW!! I am now completely addicted!

Anyone else still not sure whether to buy it, just do it! Especially before the price goes up!

I just watched the whole season in 2 days I was trying to stretch it over days but at the end of every episode there's a cliffhanger. Kept making me want to watch the next one and so on. I really liked this show. Not a big mid evil type fan but this show was great. The ending of the season was a surprise, I can't wait to see season 2. I'm addicted, if anyone is wondering if this is a good blind buy, don't worry. It's a great blind buy, if you're a mid evil fan or not.

Targaryen sold out at 5 of my 10 local bestbuys
Stark sold out at 8 of 10
Standard edition sold out at 4 of 10

Not a bad launch in my op especially given the volume I saw.

Hearing you guys get excited about GoT through the BDs makes me very excited about the future of series. The audience for the show had already grown a great deal throughout last season and has built up considerably in the interim. Now with people getting to find out about the show on BD/DVD, I imagine the fan base has the potential to explode, either this season or the next.

You mean medieval?

By the way mine just arrived from Amazon. Won't open it until I'm ready for a 10 hour marathon.

But, you don't get to see Boardwalk Empire, True Blood, Luck, Larry Sanders or Boxing.

Well, actually you can buy those shows on blu. Not sure about Larry Sanders though and Luck I'm sure will get a release.

Still, the Boxing is the main reason I continue to pay. If you're not into Boxing I suppose it's cheaper to wait and buy the Blu-ray release. Although, you do have to actually wait until some time after the season ends to get them.

Due to the massive spending it took in order to create Rome, HBO was hurting. Time period piece shows cost the most money to make because you have to make the audience actually believe the time they're in... and Rome ended up getting canned after its second season and Deadwood got the axe as well. Sopranos salary disputes happened as a result of HBO's 'save at all costs' business strategy after the fact.

But things have changed since then thanks to True Blood and now Boardwalk Empire. True Blood has really done well for HBO and the studio is showing no sign of wanting to stop it. So, as long as Game of Thrones continues to gain the following a series like True Blood has been able to do, it COULD go on for at least 7 season and then some.
Yea, it would be unfortunate if it ended early, but I don't know what they can really do about the child actors. They have a large role in the series, and they're aging quickly.

Eh, they already aged them up anyway. The storyline can be altered slightly to fit their ages as the years go on. That's not really a problem.

I've listened to the first 4 thus far .... not sure that one stands out as the overall best but I will say the best moment is the kids doing the theme song in the 3rd episode

That was really fun. The child actors were surprisingly astute and informative. Episode 3 and 7 are my favorites so far. I haven't watched the remaining two yet. I think 7/10 have commentaries.

A lot of it consists of the actors drooling over each other but It's worth it getting to hear the interesting stuff.

You guys are killing me. Ironically this week "winter has come" and thanks to sea ice, I still haven't taken delivery of my set! It might be a few weeks still...

Very much agree...both for the show AND quality BD releases in the future. GoT, imho, could be the perfect "gateway" for a potential BD fencesitter! As this set really shows off all that blu-ray has to offer.
Oh btw, just deleted all of season 1 off my dvr! I llove this release!!!

I don't have any premium channels. I actually don't watch any television shows when they air, no matter the network. I always just buy the blu-ray sets afterward. So, for me, Season 2 won't start until it's on blu-ray.
