That may be the worst mixed metaphor I've ever seen.

For that alone you deserve whatever blindcat87 said to you.

A bit premature with that. The Netflix news is a big ole' boot to the head.

Penton,

The Netflix announcement is GREAT news. The AVS'ers are in panic mode.

I have noticed lately that my local Best Buys HD DVD section seems to be a little "lean". I know that they haven't been selling alot of titles according to Nielsen.

In regards to netflix exclusive...

Penton, do you have any idea of what the split is between consumers:renters on new releases. I.E. when a movie is released it sells 1 million copies the first week, 800K to consumers and 200K to rental outlets.

I know when Transformers came out and DW said they sold so many more than nielsen was reporting their was speculation that a large part of the difference was made by sales to rental outlets.

Hats off to the Grammys for embracing many forms of music and their history and not just dumbing it down to what is popular at the moment.

I would have never expected to see ol' Jerry Lee and Little Richard hitting those ivory keys again. Past their prime yes, but they still can play.

Wow.. AVS is amazing at how much they can spin things.

Penton, how much of an effect on HD DVD/Blu-ray do you think this Netflix announcement will have?
Also, i hear the average life-span of a rental DVD is a few months at best, how long do you think it would take HD DVD titles to disappear?

So how long did it take for the "It doesn't matter, netflix sucks anyway" posts to start over at AVS?

One after another. I'd love to hear that Hollywood video will follow suit shortly. HD DVD can't keep taking these hits much longer.

My favorite quote of the thread at AVS: "It's barely news, much less huge news."

Yepp, love that one. They are so blind that can read between the lines and realize that Netflix is not buying anymore copies. This will lead to longer wait times, less titles available and then NONE.
