I couldnt agree more. Despite what the reviewer thinks, this film is a huge part of pop culture and doesnt deserve such a negative dissection. I can't wait to pick it up.

well, it originally said a lot of things about Fincher directing the live portions, which were incorrect. Plus, there's all the stuff about the new album which is also incorrect. It's funny that he said she's not "front page news" yet the same day it was posted, she was on the cover of the Daily News for their 5 star review. Pretty funny.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I read in the article, David Fincher only directed the Japan shows (which are available on Laserdisc/online bootleg).

Did he film the Paris shows as well? As in: Everything behind-the-scenes is by Alek, and the concert footage is totally David Fincher? Somewhere in the article, I swear I read that Alek was the one who directed the French shows.

God, I really hope Fincher shot and directed the concert footage in Truth or Dare!!!

No. Fincher started on the show early on, according to that link. What I meant by my post was that Fincher was a part of the filming but then dropped out. I would love for someone to ask him about it, since that interview is the only evidence (I believe) that he was a part of the production. I inadvertantly confused the reviewer when I mentioned it.

ALL concert footage was shot in the same location for the film, regardless of where they place it in the documentary.

I disagree. I feel items regarded with nastalgia can be a part of extras unqualifiedly. I'm not sure what your getting at with the time comment. There are laws and cirumstances which apply today, which did not then. That's all I meant by the 80s reference.

I meant that

A) this movie came out in 1991.
B) just because this movie came out in 1991 doesn't mean that it doesn't have a feeling of nostalgia about it. However, that nostalgia is only limited to those who actually care about the film.
C) movies that were released in the 80's never had any extras unless they were released by criterion and on laserdisc.

TBH, I'm not sure what YOU meant by your comment.

A - Songs from the soundtrack such as "like a Virgin" November 1984, "Holiday" September 1983 or "Like A Prayer" released November 1989, all cover a history that independently carry their own nostalgia as part of this release, and were subsequently re-released as part of the 1991 film documentary.

B - I disagree.

C - Movies during the 80s were filmed with making of features that aired on television and paid programming on a regular basis. There are also organizations, and other media.

MTV did several behind-the-scenes interviews around the time that the film came out.

There was an EPK for the film along with countless hours of deleted scenes from the documentary. Hell, there was a full concert that could have been used as a "bonus feature."

I just don't understand your logic. There is more than enough bonus material for the film. LG just had no interest in putting it on the disc. There is no excuse about nostalgia here.

And, fyi, none of those songs were re-released around the time of the films release (in the US, at least). LAV and Holiday had VIDEO clips serviced to MTV in promotion of the film but those songs were not, themselves, re-released to radio. The Immaculate Collection was released with a sticker proclaiming that it contained the songs included in the film.

Your move...

Please read my post and my opinion again. I stated that the nostalgia was re-released, not licensing or contracts. The entire point of my post was "items regarded with nostalgia can be a part of extras unqualifiedly".

If you study how people remember past events, you will find that the memory is retained the more times that the event is visited. I didn't mean interviews, I mean the actual conception of their ideas, and their values to me personally, and not to blatantly point out anyone satisfied with this release must be wrong about the nostalgia. That would be baiting the thread, and very silly to do so considering.

That's correct. I haven't even said what my opinion was specifically, as I told you up front, you were not getting it. I hope you are done then.

I am well aware that the footage is from the same show. She had the ponytail for most of the US shows (all, I think).

What I simply meant to ask was whether or not David Fincher himself directed the show we see in Truth or Dare.

As for the Japan shows (like on the Laserdisc and VHS), did David Fincher film THAT? I have the official VHS from Japan, and I would LOVE to know whether or not he filmed it (well, directed it, at least).

Shame he couldn't direct Truth or Dare. Might have been better. Don't get me wrong- I've been an M fan for 7 years now!

I got my copy last night, but haven't watched it yet. Planning to run it tonight. This was such a HUGE for me. Bonus features or not, I'm overjoyed to have it on BD.

Now please give us Evita with all the amazing supplements that were on the Criterion laserdisc. The film deserves much better treatment than the bare bones, non-anamorphic DVD that's currently available.

I watched several scenes of my BLU when I got it delievered Tuesday and I was happy that the concert footage looked IMO as good as it did. I honestly could make out the background design of Express Yourself a lot more than ever. The lighting looks really cool too. I love the more gritty grain look of the B/W also. I was realyl young when I saw the film in theatres by myself haha but did recall the concert sequences to look really good in the theater.

Watching the concert footage only makes you want to see the whole show from that Paris footage! We can only dream.
