They'll come up with new spin. I think this is all mostly about providing hope and leading people to think HD DVD will have the needed capabilities.

But I'm of the mind that it's whether features get used that is important, not whether they exist. With Warner (and possibily Paramount) going to Total HD, and none of the HD DVD studios even wanting TL51 (so is the long standing claim), even if it is accomplished (still in development) and approved (needs to be accepted by a bunch of drive makers who will have to redesign their drives), there is no indication it will ever get used.
