Sony is well known for having excellent customer service. They want their customers to be 100% satisfied and they aren't satisfied until the customer is. Sony is the one true business that they will go far and beyond to make sure the customer is happy with excellent products. When it comes to my electronics, I don't trust very many companies out there. Sony is really the only company I trust 100%. To this day, I've never had any Sony product break on me and I have a lot of Sony products.

I think sony is trying to improve upon what they have out there so when it does come down cheaper people like us will want to buy it!
Sort of like the laser problems with the PS2?

(Aside from the obvious stated ones.)
Not sure what the profile is, but have zero problems playing any movies, when my bps1 had to be upgraded before a few movies would play last month. discs are stored horizontally which is my only complaint with the unit, it takes time if you want to load a lot of discs at once, but once they are loaded it go outs to the internet and gets cover art work and description of movie and then catalogs them for you. And I do not like size and shape of it all my other equipment is rack mounted.

Thanks for the info. That price is high for me, but I do want a changer. I will probably wait to see what their second generation units look like, then make a choice between the two (or more).

yep kinda like that but..... yet the $&it box is still having that problem plus more, and its a next gen system? and that PS2 laser scratch happend how many years ago??? Sony learned from it, did Microsoft? NOPE its too bad I was really looking into getting a 360 untill all the recalls and NO cusotmer service.

I think a standalone changer will be coming soon, they stopped making there standard dvd dvp777es in dec, and they are sold out. And this was there only model with a rs-232 port, which does not matter to most people, but any one using any kind of control system like control 4 , escient etc, this is huge. In fact control 4 bought a lot of the last run and will only sell 2 a month to there dealers.

My biggest suprise is that sony has had no price drops on the hes server, since I ordered it in oct.

So they shouldn't even bother huh?

I don't get that thinking....they are still a business and for a business to do something like that for a customer is great. I would love to get that offer if I bought something that expensive. It's not like, they charged him that much and didn't give him the product.

It's just like me buying a new car, if it is about 25k, i would expect at least 3k rebate. I know GM run this program sometimes.

Yeah, well - what you get and what you expect are two different things. Lately, people are expecting more than they should.

A $100 bux is a $100 bux. If you don't need or want it - give it to someone who does appreciate it.

Got a surprise call from Sony - they gave me $100 worth of Blu-rays

No one ever calls me.

Must be my lousy Vonage VOIP phone service.

I used to be lonely.

But not anymore since I found Blu-ray.com.

Same here I love the service Sony does, I had a launch ps2 and not till 4-5 years later it stopped reading the disk and it was fixed for free, then I stood in line for the ps3 for 3 days and I managed to get a bad unit that keeps freezing on me, I called Sony, next day I got the shipping box, shipped it next day and in 2 days I was got my system back. I'm a happy camper with Sony.
