Default Bluray and Headphones...best option.

HRight now i have a pair of sennheisers hooked up to the base station of the Turtle Beach PX5. Simply amazing although the lows could be a little better but they give a great surround effect and the vocals are great. Unfortunately the cable or jack is acting up so i need a new set, being only $99 i thought "what can get for better money"
im will to spend $300 max. right now im thinking Beats By Dre studio as they are very comfortable and sounds great...for music. Havnt had the chance to try on films and ive heard they are over bassy. Another requirement is sound isolation. Im going on a long Eurotrip which includes over 80hours of plane travel and 120 hours via bus so i need something to keep alot of the noise out.
The three brands im thinking besides the Monsters:
-Sennheiser
-AKG
-Denon

just need a recommendation of a set and possible first hand feedback.
Much appreciated.

$300 quid?!
Why spend so much when you could get some Fatal1ty headphones (which are the best sound quality I've ever heard... DreBeats is awful in my opinion btw).

For less than £40 (GBP) you can get these puppies... they are absolutely awesome and I swear by them!!

I have heard a lot of negatively about the Beats by Dre as well. Something like they falsify the actual sound and there are much better options for cheaper prices. Sorry, I can't really make a recommendation for you though.

Well $300 (£240) max. I have a gaming headset so that's covered. I ended up buying the Shure ARS840 for under $200. Heard so much from them and how good they are with music and especially films. Hopefully get them soon.

The Beats By Dr Dre (Solo, Studio, Pros) are aimed at a specific market. They are extremely good headphones with a very detailed sense of sound but it's just the amount of bass that puts it off from being a good gaming and movie headphone. I have the Solo sets and they sound absolutely amazing with r&n and rock and electronic. Acoustic sounds ok but no perfect. Very comfortable to wear and great sound isolaters. I will be using them outside the house and while walking for music, the Shures for movies and tv and my Turtle Beach PX5 for games

If you didnt need sound isolation I was gonna recommend an open pair of cans but since you need closed, you should look into the Denon AHD2000.

I use a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50's hooked up to a Rolls HA43-pro Headphone Amp, which is hooked up to my blu-ray player.

The headphones sound superb and way better than my $300 Bose headphones.

I like them but the Sit on ear design isn't great for me. I appreciate their sound isolation and design but they are very premium in price. Still wouldn't mind owning a pair.

By the way, some Blu-ray titles have a speaker configuration/phasing test under the audio options (Lionsgate? Amelie?). You can use that to make sure all your channels are downmixed to stereo.
How does the sound come out when downmixed through an RCA connection.? Wouldnt an optical connection (coax) be able to send a DTS track through better. I'm using the Turtle Beach amp to downmixed to stereo from optical which is great.

With, say, 5-channel audio, I can hear everything on the two stereo outputs alone, because the player is downmixing to stereo.

The headphones have a mini stereo plug, which has to be adapted to the player's RCA jacks; the headphones don't plug into the player's stereo outputs. I had RCA cables and a stereo mixer with RCA inputs and a mini stereo output, so the mixer became that adapter. Sure, It's possible to make or buy a cheaper mini stereo to RCA adapter, but the RCA cables and mixer were available and were the easiest way to use the player's stereo out.

The Oppo also has coax/optical audio output as another alternative to HDMI.

I don't use a receiver.
Oh ok, sounds like a great setup I don't have an oppo in my room setup, only a ps3 so analogue surround isn't an option can't wait for my headphones to come in, so excited

Since you don't use a receiver, would you please share with us your HT component setup? I'm thinking about replacing my Bose with B&W and if I don't need a receiver...

OT - but perhaps not too much.

I just picked up a 1972 Marantz 2010 Receiver and am thinking about using it to drive some vintage Klipsch because of the efficiency. I live in a townhouse so K-Horns are out of the ? What other Klipsch do you recommend I look for?

I'm also going to post this REQ to the Klipsch forum(s) but wanted your $00.02 also.

TIA - Rich
