I still remember playing Mario Kart 64 and Goldeneye with my brother and our friend Paul for hours on end. Even to this day, I still think GE holds up as a great FPS. I used to love hiding in one of the bathroom stalls in the "Facility" level. There was one stall where you could climb up and wait for someone to open the door, then open fire on them, haha! Those were great times.

I can recall many long hours (and worn out controllers) playing the AKI wrestling games. Revenge in particular. They are still the best wrestling games ever made IMO.

Also have great memories of marathon 50 turn Mario Party games with "halftime" at 25 turns (brews/buds whatever) and the hurt feelings and crushed hopes when someone SCREWED you out of a win by flipping your stars to someone else on the 2nd to last turn.

Hell I had good friends get up, pull their controller out (these were often brought over earlier in the day to reserve your spot in the game) and leave without saying a damn word.

Yeah, I was a geek in HS. LOL. But these were EPIC games where people were scheming with each other (a la monopoly) to screw the #1 guy. Like, we had to put in a rule that you couldn't throw 2 v 2 games to hurt another player. This stuff got serious.

I remember playing Turok and Super Mario 64 for the first time in 1998. Both of those games blew my mind away as a kid.

Oh man Turok rocked! The cerebral bore (if I remember the name correctly) was awesome!

There are so many great games on this system!

I remember waking up Christmas morning and getting a N64 with Mario 64 and sitting in front of the tv for hours playing that. Also all the local multiplayer fun with Goldeneye, Starfox 64, Mariokart 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Turok, Perfect Dark and of course Super Smash Bros.

I remember Mario 64, of course. That was an amazing game and my siblings and I were in awe of seeing Mario in 3D for the first time.

I played a lot of WWF No Mercy. We'd make all sorts of characters, from Bill Clinton to Al Gore to more like Hitler, Stalin, Gandhi, and Jefferson Davis. You don't get to see these people fight in the ring very often.

For me, the highlight of the system was Goldeneye. I don't remember how many hundreds of matches I played with my friends. When I visited my cousins, they'd bring out the local Goldeneye champ. My brother and I were incredibly skilled at this game and we'd beat every one of them. I trounced the competition at my high school's Goldeneye tournament, winning the final 10-0. During the pep rally my name was announced and I stood up in triumph as I rarely got any recognition at school. Every once in a while I'll break out the N64 and play against my friends, even though we're nearly 30. The game is still fun to play.

Well the N64 library of games wasn't huge but there were a good many exclusive gems. I have fond memories of all of these.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Still viewed as the greatest game of all-time by many, myself included.

Super Mario 64 - Took Mario into the 3D era in impressive fashion.

GoldenEye 007 - In many ways helped usher in the FPS genre.

Perfect Dark - Another landmark FPS IMO.

Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie - Extremely fun 3D platformers.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask - One of the best games of the Zelda franchise that unfortunately gets overshadowed by it's big brother OOT.

Star Fox 64 - My favorite game of the Star Fox series.

Conker's Bad Fur Day - Surprisingly vulgar game, but in a very good way.

Paper Mario - Standard fun Mario RPG.

Diddy Kong Racing - Really did enjoy this one. Wish this series would make a comeback.

Donkey Kong 64 - Didn't enjoy it anywhere near as much as the trilogy of SNES Donkey Kong games, but still a lot of fun.

Mario Kart 64 - Great addition to the Mario Kart series.

F-Zero X - Really the last F-Zero game I loved. F-Zero GX for GC was good, but the extreme difficulty was a bit much.

Turok and Turok 2 - Fantastic games that the move recent Turok games hasn't come close to touching.

WWF No Mercy - In the mid 90's-early 00's I was a HUGE WWF fan. This game really revolutionized what wrestling games could be.

Space Station Silicon Valley - Strange but fun game.

Mario Party series - The N64 started the Mario Party series, which I've always enjoyed.

Super Smash Bros. - A nice beginning to the series, though nowhere near as good as the later Smash Bros games.

Really the one and only huge problem I had with the N64 was the complete lack of RPG. Due mainly to issues with the cartridge based N64 there were practically no good RPG's. The only ones I can even think of is Paper Mario and Ogre Battle 64

My only memory of the N64 was the game Starfox64. I believe that it was the first game to introduce vibration to the game controller. Starfox64 included a rumble pak (add-on) that used 2 AAA batteries to power the vibration feature. That was so cool at the time! I bought the game for that specific reason and it was so fun to play with. Very innovative for its time. I think Playstation came out with a vibration controller several months later. Sadly, I have never finished even one of my N64 games and I have about 30 of them. Most of my games are still unopened, believe it or not.

I liked that game quite a bit, but finally gave up on it, because I'd get all the way to the end with the hardest route, and wind up dead in seconds because of Star Wolf.

Wow; there's collectors around the world, who'd probably pay a lot for those (I'm not one of them).

Agreed, but its addicting beyond measure. I rented that game when I was 18, and kept it for a few months, racking up a notable fine from my local Hollywood Video. I got a gold copy last year, and have beat it numerous times since. The hardest part is the Water Temple, though.

Definitely, although the Shifting Sand and Clock Tower levels make me want to smash my head into a wall. Plus, spinning Bowser around gets aggravating, very quickly. I'd love to meet Charles Martinet someday, though.

Played it a few times, but I don't remember being a big fan of it.

Of all the games I've played in the series, this one is, by far, the most annoying and stressful (even more so than Zelda II). Reliving the same three days, over and over again?!...whoever thought that up needs medication.

I still play my N64 from time-to-time... and to this day I will challenge anyone and beat anyone at MK64. Bring it. Only met one individual in college whom I would consider my equal, never bettered.

EDIT: Oh and I should mention that glitches and shortcuts are lame (e.g., jumping over the wall in the Wario Stadium race).

It's a cuttle cart

Like a cuttle cart (atari 2600), it's a gutted n64 cartridge that accepts a flash card. Basically you can put all your games in rom form onto the flash card, insert the card into your everdrive cartridge, plug said cartridge into your n64 and select the game you want from a menu.

I must point out that it's quite the luxury item at $174.99 with no games included due to legality reasons.

Yoshi's Story
Goldeneye
Perfect Dark
Zelda OOT (best ever)
Zelda Majora's Mask
Rocket: Robot On Wheels

And a ton more. I loved that console.

for a long time i felt zelda OOT was the best zelda game ever also and i first started playing zelda when i was 7 years old with the first game. i didnt beat it untill i was 9 or 10 but i did beat it.

majoras mask was a massive disapointment to me. just didnt feel like a zelda game to me

i no longer feel OOT is the best zelda game. time changes everything. i would rate them like this

1. legend of zelda (nes)

2. link to the past (snes)

3. Ocarina of time (64)

4 legend of zelda 2 adventure of link (nes)

God, I haven't played the NES Zelda since the mid-1990s, but I'm with you on LTTP being ahead of OOT.

Got it maybe a month after it came out. I remember being wow'ed by Mario64 and the "3D" graphics. Never bought Pilot Wings since i was broke from buying the N64 so i just played Mario until Christmas.

-Cruisin' USA was fun
-Ocarina of Time needs no description
-Madden64 with all of the fake cities (no NFL license i think)
-Starfox64 with the rumble pack was amazing.

good times.

Playing Super Smash Bros, Donkey Kong 64, and Pokemon Stadium with my Gameboy Pokemon game. Awesome times. I remember me and my sister working together to go through Donkey Kong 64 with a player guide. Didn't finish, but it was fun.
