As for whether it's in his contract, I guess I'm just surprised that Scott would put himself in this position again after the Fox situation on KoH.
Presumably, Scott wants to work, that's why.

I think philzilla is right. Plus, Scott knows that his cut will come out on the Blu-ray and be a huge hit if the movie even does decent in theaters.

How did the rumour start about the UK/Europe getting the uncut version of the film? Actual evidence of this or wishful thinking due to our '15' rating we have over here?

I was only speaking about the home release (Blu-ray/DVD). An uncut home version is most wishful thinking, but I was basing it on that current trend for modern films. Also, the footage exists (Scott has said he's shooting the film for both and 'R' version and a 'PG-13' version), so it makes sense to me that the studio would put it to use sometime.

Yes.

And I'd say elements of terror from The Dark Knight, a film that really pushed the boundaries of the PG-13 that could easily have been R had it been any other film.

If the Dark Knight had blood in it you can be sure it would have been R. The reason it was PG-13 is because its "Adult content" was really in the theme. A lot of people don't even understand what the Dark Knight was even about nevermind its themes.

Prometheus like Alien, is a movie that should be 'R' thematically and visually. The Dark Knight is borderline R thematically and that's it.

I just saw Titanic 3D in RealD 3D and had another opportunity to watch the 3D Prometheus trailer. Fantastic! Counting the days and also waiting for the 3DBD preorder to be posted on Amazon. I'm hoping it won't take more than a few months after the theatrical release for that to happen.

It's hard to see deeper meanings in movies that have traditionally been about dudes in capes kicking people's butts. Nolan has walked a very fine line with his iteration of Batman.

Lots of data missing. Some servers must still be down. Hate to think everything from 4/16 on has been lost.

Well, saw Prometheus in IMAX 3D this morning. Packed theater. Deathly silence at the end. Groups whispering to each other on the way out. Ominous. Prometheus was up on 3 screens at 10 AM. On the way out, it was listed on 5 screens + IMAX. 3 of the 5 screens were showing it in RealD3D.

I find lately that the Blu-ray.com reviewers are tougher than the New York Times. While the Times didn't rave about any of these, they gave fairly positive reviews to "Men In Black 3", "Snow White and the Huntsman" and "Prometheus", yet this site pretty much panned all three.

While I like an intellectual, critical approach to movie reviewing, I think the reviewers are trying to prove how elite they are.

As a critic myself, I respect other critics' reviews, but they don't make or break how I feel towards a movie. I haven't seen Prometheus yet. I will over the weekend, so I can't judge this broad spectrum of love and hate for the film.

I went to the midnight IMAX 70mm 3D premier and figured I would post my comments in the morning only to find servers down.

I read a lot of the bad and disappointing reviews prior to watching it and despite some valid criticism I really enjoyed it. If you were pumped about the film don't let the sour talk dissuade you from checking it out. It was perhaps one of the most visually spectacular films I have ever seen in my life.

However, It is the kind of film where if you have a problem with Damon Lindelof type screen plays (Star Trek, Lost) then you'll probably never really get on board with Prometheus either. Personally I loved the new Trek, I can poke holes in that plot with the best of them; but that didn't keep me from enjoying both movies. I'm also content not having every question answered in the first movie and having some things left deliberately open ended. For me, it doesn't need to be wrapped up in a box at the end as that takes away half the fun. Yeah there are probably several things that some people will never reconcile with this movie. Thats okay, I still enjoyed it. I think in the day of Transformers being the summer blockbuster norm it still has a lot to offer and most will enjoy it.

One other thing of note, it should provide a killer workout for any subwoofer, and the Blu-ray could easily be "demo candy" once released. Can't wait!

Saw it in 3D today and give it four stars. It has to be the most visually gorgeous film I'v seen since Avatar. I don't think it up to the level of Alien or Aliens in terms of terror and action, but still a solid story. Wished a few more questions were answered. Hope there are some sequels coming.

Couple of questions

[Show spoiler] 1. Why does David put the black goo in the scientists drink?
2. Why did they want to take Elizabeth back to earth pregnant and when she knocked them over and ran away they didn't chase her?

I went into this movie with high expectations and tons of excitement and absolutely loved the movie. I thought it was very well done. It was intense throughout almost the entire movie. Fassbender and Noomi Rapace were excellent in their roles as well. 9/10 for me but I love sci-fi and went in very excited so that might sway my opinion

Saw this earlier today. I kept waiting for the 'bad' that so many negative reviewers had been harping on, and it never came. Aside from a couple of the smaller characters not being all that well written/performed, everything was absolutely thrilling. Both Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender were incredible in their roles, and the design of the film had my jaw dropped for the entire runtime.

Having a more memorable ensemble cast of characters would have made me love this even more - but as it is, I still give the film about a 4.5/5.

The 3D was quite effective, if subtle. I don't think it was necessarily needed - but it was very well done all the same.
