Don't get me started on Stars Wars! Over-rated, just like the Beatles.

A fun ride when I was 6. Things never look the same when you look back on them.

I haven't wanted to watch a movie at the theaters for a second time in a long while. Even with the avengers. This time in imax though.

Well, if we're all alive, we'll certainly see how the public perceives it. I LOVED Alien when I first saw it and don't know to this day whether it's considered a GREAT film (or classic). Some might say yea and other nay. There are films which "I" consider classics and others which I don't. I can only speak for myself. This thread is, after all, just a conglomeration of opinions. I don't think Prometheus, in it's present form, is a classic, but thought it was a very solid effort and enjoyed it. When I walked out of the theater after seeing "The Fellowship of the Ring", I thought it a classic even though there were mistakes (Nazgul on horse by tree) and omissions and changes (Bombadil, Fog on the Barrow Downs, Arwen helping Frodo instead of Glorfindel). Just my opinions.....

Just watched it for the second time, it's a f...ing awesome movie.

Yes it's sifi and not some documentary. There always things which aren't explained in all detail. Like how did they got there in 2years and a bit? Faster then light? Please. And here people talk like scientist and try to explain how a flame thrower would work in this atmosphere. It was just like earths with just elevated levels of carbon dioxide. Earth has some 0.04% and LV-223 has 3%. Oxygen 20% and Nitrogen 78% were the same. Yes fire burns there very well as you can see in the last scenes.

Give it a rest and let it grow on you. A directors cut is on the horizon.
I can't wait for the sequels. Open minded ready for anything.

The wife and I saw it Sat morning and came out extremely satisfied. The movie was fantastic in my opinion. I found no bad with it and realize today that I'm still thinking about it. Very thought provoking, awesome story, awesome acting, awesome looking. Hopefully Ridley gets moving on the sequels. Can't wait. I don't understand all the negative I've heard.

I moved to Dallas about a month ago and ANY major release seems to sell out every theater near me so yesterday I finally caught Prometheus for a matinee.

I have to say I thought it was fantastic! Sure, there are some leaps of logic
[Show spoiler]How Shaw convinced the ship to run into the Engineer's ship in less than 15 words and the captain simply agreed with her so quickly
but all and all it was a breathtakingly gorgeous movie and some unreal blu-ray quality coming our way.

The only real nit pick I would have, did anyone feel like the "scope" of the movie was a bit lacking? Besides the ships crashing (which was amazing) the rest of the movie was either on Prometheus or inside of a cave; with a small amount taking place outside. I do wish they could have added some more HD Space-Porn camera shots (Sunshine did a great job with this), or see a little more than a single building on an entire moon. 4/5

[Show spoiler]If you recall Janek made it a point to not let anything get back to earth. So his decision to sacrifice the ship, himself, and his crew making the decision to stay aboard was commendable.

Overall, the movie was very intense, but not something I would have a problem with my 15 or 16 year old seeing. In fact, my son saw it last night (just walked on in with no problem) with some of his friends.
Also, if it was going to be rated R, all those little wraps they used as clothes when they got out of cryo (or whatever you call it) weren't really necessary. I mean, you can do push ups without them and save a couple of bucks on material costs

I find many of the complaints about this film to be legit, but highly overblown. To each his own though. There are some people who absolutely love the Star Wars prequels, but I find them to be a disaster on many, many levels.

Can't wait to see Prometheus again (warts and all) and cannot wait to own it on blu

I saw it last night and I will view it a second time in IMAX 3D. I thought it was great and it will be a day-one grab on Blu. I have been reading good reviews for Prometheus in 3D. If it is indeed good, Prometheus and The Avengers will cause me to upgrade to a 3D environment. The format is starting to mature a bit.

[Show spoiler] I'd like to know why all the engineer's looked identical?

That's the point. Which movie is perfect? ... uhmm, none.

I just like more things in the movie which outweighs the things I don't like(by far). Yes that makes a movie a good one.

In some sci-fi stories, when humanity reaches it's zenith in engeneering the perfect human being, all human beings are created from that perfect specimen. You could think of it from that perspective here, but the truth probably is that it was easier to design and film one rather than many. Ridley used a lot of practical FX for this film in addition to the CG.
