Exactly. If you get the Digipak you wanted in perfect condition but opened, it probably isn't worth the risk of getting a banged-up sealed one.

I think a lot of the time people assume stuff must be used when it probably isn't. Fingerprints could end up on a disc before/while they are being put in the case, and when you have films that came out on blu-ray 5 years ago, there's going to be some shelf wear.

I've been told by two different people that work at Amazon that any returns they get, no matter what reason is binned. If a company is willing to take that sort of hit to ensure they're not sending anything less than perfect out, I doubt they'd be be sneakily passing off used things as new.

While I don't doubt the information you've been given stuff does seem to slip through the gaps. It's probably impossible to safeguard against it when you move so much merchandise.

The main thing is if you're not happy about something you get from Amazon they replace it straight away.

oh yer definatly, i agree when your buying releases that have been out for years theres bound to be some wear and tear, the condition of my Sleeping Beauty is fair enough so im not really complaining i guess the disks themselves are pristine (bar the DVD disk) so yer cant really grumble i guess!

Yeah, if you guys ever notice Best Buy does this too. They take returned movies, refurbish them, and sell them as new. At least thats my theory. This happened to me with X-Men: The Last Stand in the trilogy pack and Raging Bull. There were scratches and fingerprints. Good thing I got them on sale, but it looks like they do not want to lose the money.

It could be true that the discs just scratched up by too much movement and fingerprints are from the people putting them in the package, but I don't know.

Do humans get anywhere near these things at the factory? I'm sure they could make a robot with soft hands to get the job done.

If humans are involved I hope they wear cotton gloves or something appropriate....

As long as the disc and case are in perfect condition, I don't care if they are second hand, I don't see anything wrong with second hand if it's in perfect condition.

About a year ago i bought the Batman anthology box set from Amazon. When it arrived it came in the usual envelope packaging with my receipt inside. The actual product though wasn't shrink wrapped, the box was bashed and one of the discs was lose within one of the Blu-ray cases. To make matters more comical, there was someone else's receipt for that same product, folded up and tucked inside the box.

Clearly an item that had been returned but it was sold as new even though the condition was most definitely used. The loose disc and receipt show the product wasn't even checked. Got a full refund though and on the whole, Amazon have offered a great service to me over the years.

There are always those moments were workers might just forget about the gloves. I mean people aren't perfect. I would think that they come packaged in an assembly line with machines but who knows.

DVD.CO.UK are also big culprits for re-seals.

I bought a Hope Conspiracy CD in-store from HMV a few years back and it had a massive scratch on it, so I took it back for an exchange. They didn't have any, so I they had to order one, yadda yadda yadda. Anyway, I got my CD.

2 months later, my mate buys a copy from the same HMV and guess what... yeah, it was my return with the big ass scratch in it. Shocking.

I recently got Saving Ryan's Privates and Terminator Salvation blus from Amazon direct and had to send them back as they were in used condition and they were not advertised as being used. I picked up Private Ryan from Asda brand new and 3 pounds cheaper than the used Amazon copy

I am now reluctant to buy anything from Amazon that has even been slightly reduced. Something should be done about this, at least they should state if the copy has been used etc

I actually like those labels on the top of the case. I slice them in half with a Stanley Knife.

Crikey I thought I read that title right in shogun123's post. I thought I was seeing things. That might be called a Freudian Slip Cover...
