I feel like I should pimp out one of the lesser known films, because Letter Never Sent is really great, and one of the cheaper more bare bones releases. I think it's still something like 16.99 on Amazon. Especially if you like Russian films it's a must own.

Maybe we will get a 'Rosemary's Baby' announcement.

I hope it's September, but it seems more likely for October. It's probably in my Top 10 Films ever, if not surely Top 20. I just really want to see what Special Features we're getting and the Cover Art. Even if it is October and the B&N sale happens in November, I'll still pay full price and get it day one.

Anyone starting to get nervous about whether we're getting a B&N Sale isn't this the point where staff start getting and informed and letting inquiring customers know? I was the one who posted that email I sent before the Database loss. I'd be really p-oed if this happens the first time I'm actually in the States during this time. Obviously the sale likely wouldn't start till after their B2G3 sale ends, which is the 9th, still it seems we should have an answer by now. Anyways I got Harold and Maude from Deep Discount and The Gold Rush (Just started getting into Chaplin, will surely pick up Modern Times and The Great Dictator, if the sale happens), The 39 Steps and Shallow Grave from B&N B2G3 sale just incase Harold and Maude was $24.50, while the 3 B&N averages out to about $22 a piece shipped to Canada. Anyways, what are your guys wishlists for the potential sale?

Must-Haves:
Modern Times
The Gold Rush
Belle de Jour
World on a Wire (Could have got this for the same price as Harold and Maude from Deep Discount, but I didn't, hopefully I don't regret this)
La Haine
Being John Malkovich
Three Colors Trilogy

And then about another 15 that I'm attempting to narrow down to around 5.

I watched both A Married Woman and Alphaville today, and neither sparked anything in me like most of Godard's work. Especially Alphaville. I felt it was weird on purpose and more of a mockery towards Godard's style than a real Godard film. It was frustrating and just not an interesting watch for me. Maybe I'm missing something, maybe the film is not for me. Sad, because I was yearning for a Godard sci-fi once I heard about it.

Are there any defenders of Alphaville on these boards?

The sale is great and very useful but I won't be getting nervous or lose sleep over this. If this is one there is one and if not well no biggy there are other ways and other sales and I can still buy the movies at regular price if I truly want it.

Yes, Chungking Express was one of the first Criterion titles to go up in price. I was early to the sale and bought three Criterions and We Need to Talk About Kevin (in that wonderful slipcase) before the 10% (which would have given me 7 dollars off if used, btw, so boo to me on that topic) and I got CE for under 20. It shot up to $23/after coupon a few hours after I bought it. It then shot up with the rest of the Criterions in the middle of the night the first night of the sale. Glad I got in early as I've wanted that one for quite awhile at a good price and thankfully it came in the case not the digipack.

I finally received my order yesterday - I'm pretty sure orders that go through DHL take longer because they transport them to the post office which in turns has to sort the package out themselves so you have two middlemen (per se) to go through to get your order.

And with that order, I finally have Insignificance in my collection. A wonderfully misunderstood film that lingers in the mind long after the credits roll.

I ordered my copy using Super Saver Shipping...I was supposed to get it tomorrow, but got my copy yesterday. THANKS Amazon!

I'll likely save it for this weekend. Might make it a Father's Day treat.

Are they in Burlington, Vermont? The 'rents are there now, as I'm at their place house/dog sitting. Haven't had a vacation since Christmas.

I'm happy with the Criterions, I can wait on The Sting since people are complaining about the transfer. Like I said I have other stuff to watch, I'm still waiting on 4 BDs in the mail: Sherlock Holmes 2, fanny and Alexander, shallow grave, and Harold and maude.

I got my copy of The Gold Rush yesterday from Best Buy (have RZ certificates to use). I can safely say that it looks fantastic and it bests the Park Circus release slightly. I wanted to see the 1925 version first and it does not disappoint. I only got through about 20 minutes of the 1942 version, but looks great. I have not gotten into the Supplements yet, as that is for later in the week. Overall, another fantastic job with Chaplin from Criterion again. Here's hoping The Kid is next....

Whats the difference between the 1925 version and the 1942 version (I don't know much about Chaplin)
