Thats why I haven't bought the Die Hard collection or seen the 4th one yet. Screw it until I get to hear the Yippie line as it is meant to be. I'm so sick of PG-13 everything. When it comes out on DVD it is always to graphic for theaters . Um you know they still allow R movies in the theater . That PG-13 rating helped DH4 zero at the box office. I will never buy the 4th one on blu until this is fixed, nor will I watch it.

THe cursing isnt what makes Die Hard great. It is the whole John Mclain personality. DH4 was the best one in my opinion and a few less F-bombs didnt ruin it for me.

how did this thread go from a topic about poor quality transfer of a HD DVD to the lack of swearing in LFoDH?

B. Hunt once again....HD DVD .The limitations of the HD DVD format have been well documented, so this is not surprising. It gets old to hear the HD DVD debate, as that format should just disappear.

I have it only because I failed to inspect the back of the boxset.

Not to make any presumptions, but it seems like you didn't grow up with Die Hard, as I did. The swearing IS a huge part of his personality, and the lack of it makes him seem castrated. Part of John McLain is the profanity and to remove it removes some of his character.

Have you seen the original "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"? If so I can relate it to that, in the sense that although John Mclain looks the same and acts similar, you can tell that something has changed. He's not himself. He's just a watered down copy of the original.

Guys, you are losing sight of the important thing. Forget the extended/director's cut issue.

The HD DVD version has compression issues AND no HD audio even at 30GB. That's the issue. If Universal turn Blu, would they do their movies justice?

Trust me, HD DVD will be lucky if this movie makes the top 7 when it is released, and I mean LUCKY.

You framed the point exactly as intended by Bill and as understood by the OP and others not derailing the topic.

You are kidding right? Who gives a shit about the unrated version. People that have compared the two say there is just a couple more curse words in the unrated one.....IS this really a big issue to put your panties in a bundle? Seriously......

This is exactly why HD-DVD is inferior due to the lack of space!! With 20gb of extra space, Universal could really use it.

BH is just rubbing it into HD-DVD's face. Red ants have always stood by their mantra that you don't really need the extra space. Sure you don't need the space if you'd rather have ultra-compressed audio and you have to add an extra SD DVD to get both versions of the movie. BH is just showing Uni what could have been...

Sorry but that is FUD at it's finest...

Troy Director's Cut on HD DVD 198 minutes with a TrueHD audio track.
Hot Fuzz on HD DVD 121 minutes with a TrueHD audio track AND eighteen hours of supplements on one disc! http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/880/hotfuzz.html

So with 20 extra gigs on Blu-ray I would think FOX could have given us both the rated and unratred versions of Die Hard 4 without sacrificing anything.
But why would they do that? Then we wouldn't douple dip...

Yeah it is. They released the unrated cut on DVD but not Blu-ray, that is complete crap. I want the unrated version of EVERY film I buy if it's available.
