I'll really need to re-watch this. I was half asleep during some of it in the theater. Not because I was bored, just tired

But I really didn't leave that impressed I have never seen (or really know anything about) any of the other previous films either.

But I will probably purchase it when its 14.99 or less

I saw it today and I gave it a 3/5. It has a great cast and is gorgeous to look at , but was weighed down by a mediocre script.

it really took the audience for idiots.

I'm still shocked by the two ladies running away and not having the intelligence to run sideways.

I've been chased before and have instinctively ran in a straight line.

I was drunk lying in a carpark in town and two guys walked past and stopped and made a sex/rape comment and i took off in one direction. Even though there were heaps of places i could hide.

I KNOW RIGHT?!?!?! I was able to excuse that moment for the sake of entertainment. But, really? You always see this in films where a very large tall object is falling to the ground and characters run along its long thin shadow to try and get away. Why is that? You would rather take 300 running steps in 10 seconds to try and get away than taking 20 running steps in 10 seconds in a perpendicular direction to get to safety? Something about the difference in odds in each of these scenarios just doesn't compute with rational human thinking.

Regarding the extra details that Scott + company have revealed via interviews regarding the grander scheme of what they WANTED to create with this film. The more I think about it after having seen the film, the more it is starting to piss me off. It really is starting to feel like they just chickened out to save themselves a potential headache/backlash from religious nuts. I mean, think about it. Not too many films deal with the nature of human existence/creation being what it is in this film. If you are going to tackle that topic, you have to back it up with some stones. Otherwise, the film will lack the conviction of your intentions and therefore will suffer as a result. Personally, it pisses me off that they weren't "man enough" to just say what they wanted to say. Instead they cowered under the guise of "artistic decision." And, I really do feel less respect for Scott and his team because of it.

I like the comment "Prometheus is a Masterpiece." I loved this movie and it is far from a masterpiece.

True, but it does have a lot of really masterful elements... and some... not so much.

LMAO at your avatar, btw.

Agreed, there are wonderful shots and visuals in Prometheus, which is the main reason I love it so much, but just the script craps on it.

ahah thanks

Taken from the article above:

"Although Prometheus 2 is set to answer some of the questions asked in the first movie, there sure will be more questions created that are going to be left for the third and final installment of the series Prometheus 3."

I don't think my brain can handle waiting that long to find out all the answers to this film if it turns into a trilogy.

I don't have as much issue with the script as a lot of people seem to. I love the actual story itself, and all the ideas about the engineers and pretty much everything relating to the character of David. I also love all the loose ends, which many seem to find annoying - but I like having stuff to theorize about. The script does have some minor weak links though. All the side characters are neither well defined nor have any decent lines (I cringed a bit at all the "bet" stuff between the 2 copilots). I also didn't care for when Charlie says the line "Is there an agenda you're not telling us about?" But any script that contains references to Lawrence of Arabia gets extra points from me.

In spite of my small quibbles, I'm in love with most everything else in the film. The art direction, cinematography, music, effects, etc. are all breathtaking, and Fassbender and Rapace really are amazing (as are Pearce and Theron). I hope the movie gets a couple tech nominations at the Oscars. It probably won't, but it certainly would deserve them.

no sh-- right .

BTW, what sort of questions do you guys have? I've voiced several of mine, but the majority of them have to more with Alien than this film (this is in large part due to Prometheus's awesome story )

lol, you guys really need to prepare yourselves for the possibility that that some of your questions may not be fully resolved, even in a potential third film.

We are dealing with Lindelof, after all. And I say that as an unwavering LOST fan who adored the series finale.

it's conceivable that you can outrun other people but you were being chase, and what happened in the film was not the same.

I suggest you stay off train tracks though if your instincts say to run forward.

I have to be honest - that doesn't bother me so much. Likewise, in the ending of the film 'Serenity', Mal could have just had Wash
[Show spoiler]fly over the mass of Reaver ships and then downward back toward the planet. But instead, they go straight through the ships -
which is merely an excuse to create a dramatic climax.

Things done in movies don't always make since in the real world. But usually, I just get caught up in the story and just let these things go. For instance, how on earth, in epic war movies, do all those thousands of soldiers always hear the general or king giving their big speech? It doesn't make sense, but I just go with it.
