Default The Paramount Speculation Thread (21.02.08 - Paramount officially goes Blu)

So, I'm pretty sure this employee at Best Buy was off his rocker, but he said that paramount had said they were going back to blu? he said he heard this around the time of the warner announcement. Have I missed something or is this guy dumb?

Hes misinformed.

Besides, how can some random Bestbuy employee know more than people like Bill Hunt or the news editors here? Think about it.

It will happen, it is expected to happen soon. There are unconfirmed rumors that some of their old Blu-ray titles have started to get circulated again, but either way, there is no official announcement.
I am sure we would hear something here first, before a Best Buy employee. But the fact is, they don't have a choice if they want to sell HD content. HD DVD is dead and Blu-ray is the only way to go anymore.

Thats why I posted, I was just thinking maybe I had missed some recent news or something.

-Thanks for clarifying guys. I wanted to tell the guy at the store he was wrong, but I kinda got excited, so I didn't know if I believed it or not

When Paramount announces that it will be releasing in Blu-ray, you will find about it FIRST right here. It will take some time for the information from the Internet to filter to the retailers.

While that's probably very true in this case, never underestimate the power of one random person. News people get blindsided all the time.

You never know who is relatives are.

that almost seems like wishful thinking doesnt it? I know if i had a relative in that field, I would be all over it like stink on shit... I think its safe to say that he is merely a BB employee, being a BB employee and will say anything to sound educated.

Every thread that deals with BB, CC, or Wal-Mart has at least one elitist comment like the one above. I worked at Wal-Mart while going to college and I still enjoy shopping there. Generalized statements are usually indicative of an absence of serious thought.

Trust me the guy in best buy is talking out of his ass there is nothing official until it is announced so please stop with the paramount posts non-stop until it is official at this point its all false info.

I figure if something big like this happens, we'd be the ones to hear it first. Josh is a fast one!

Maybe there should be a sticky about how Retail Employees know about two things involving the industry. Jack and Shit, and jack left.

In the advent of the internet, why anyone would rely or even take into considering a Best Buy CSR's knowledge enough to post here and ask about it is beyond me. If you really questioned the validity, check the digital bits as I'm sure that the moment Paramount switches they will have the official news.
