They said they weren't doing a sequel unless they sold 3 million copies. Do the math. Of course not directly, but they did exploit the role of Spec Ops in Afghanistan shortly after 9/11 for a video game. Plan and simple.

Active, reserve, and retired members of the U.S. armed forces (and government employees) can buy a "Military Edition" of Medal of Honor: Warfighter when the game releases in October, Electronic Arts said today.

A news release announcing the "Military Edition" said it would be available exclusively through GovX—"a privileged e-commerce Web site where qualified members of the U.S. Armed Forces and those in related government agencies can shop for premium off-duty apparel, equipment and other products as well as on–duty tactical products."

To shop at GovX, one typically registers with his or her active .gov or .mil email identity, or supplies other verification of duty/retired status in the armed forces, Department of Defense, or other military, federal, local or state law enforcement agency.

The "Military Edition" is part of the newly created "Project Honor" fundraising program for the U.S. military's Special Operations Community. Project Honor is a charity for families and soldiers in special operations, designed to raise awareness of that mission and to support those whose loved ones have died or have been wounded in service to it.

The "Military Edition" of Medal of Honor Warfighter" includes all the content of the game's Limited Edition release, plus unnamed "exclusive in-game unlocks" that include a special Project Honor camouflage skin. For more information, see this page on GovX.

"We have a tremendous amount of respect for our service men and women around the world and a deep level of gratitude for the sacrifices both they and their families make on a daily basis," Greg Goodrich, Medal of Honor's executive producer, said in a statement. "We've teamed up with some of the biggest military brands to deliver an authentic experience in Medal of Honor Warfighter. We're excited to work with these great partners to also launch Project HONOR to raise awareness for the Navy SEAL Foundation and the Special Operations Warrior Foundation and drive real world contributions of which we can be proud."

You could swap the Taliban and the U.S. Forces for Red vs. Blue. It would make no difference to the tone of the game. It's still just one team shoots at the other in a digital playing space where no one really gets hurt. It's not as if the game glorifies the killing of American troops for the sake that they're American.

Not to mention, if it's mostly non-gamers getting upset, how exposed to this video game will they ever actually be?

Again, its non-gamers with loved ones and friends who have been killed and/or seriously injured by the Taliban and they don't see anything but a game being sold for $60, at release, where you can go and kill Delta Operatives as Taliban online. Trivializing it doesn't change that, especially to the survivors.

I know someone who was on and survived the attack on the USS Stark. I can imagine his reaction to a video game where you play either a crewman on the Stark or the pilot of the Iraqi plane that killed his friends. There are over 50,000 wounded or killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Yes. Non-gamers who more than likely will NEVER be exposed to the video game. The MP is not designed in an insulting fashion. Plenty of other games have depicted Arabic fighters, they just call them something different to appease people who have no other reason to be offended than for the sake of being offended.

I had a relative who was K.I.A. As well as a friend who came back wheelchair bound. However, I can separate real conflict from an FPS Multi-player mode with Iraqi skins.

Oh, I can only imagine. And it'll go for a s**tload, even though all it really includes extra is some camo for the MP mode.

EA has released a seven minute gameplay demo for Medal of Honor: Warfighter.

The video is an extended version of the demo Danger Close showed at E3 earlier this month. In it the Tier 1 operatives embark on a mission to stabilise a soutern region in Somalia by shooting their way through a Pirate Town.

I want that special edition. EA sends me all their games for free so I hope that I magically get the good edition (highly highly doubt it)

Through trusted sources, we’ve been able to gather some detailed Medal of Honor: Warfighter info including class abilities, support actions and weapons.

We’ve also got our hands on some basic gameplay details which you’ll find in the list below. Keep in mind that all of this is from the currently running Alpha trial, meaning much of it could be changed by the time an open or closed Beta rolls around and definitely altered by the final build.

It is most likely that each class type will be similar across all twelve Tier 1 Operator groups, except for the weapons. The Alpha allows players to choose one of six classes, each class representing a different faction. This list may also be incomplete.
