No it didn't. Fox did the intial release in 2008, then Criterion came out with their's it 2 years later.

Then its not really the fault of Focus, it is releasing tomorrow nationwide. If your particular chain decides not to show it thats not on Focus.

I dunno, I feel pretty certain if this was released more normally It would be playing at one of the 4 theatres around here.

If I were in your shoes I would be pretty upset as well, I never liked the trickle down style releases. I get why its used for films like this, but it sucks if you are in a smaller market.

What? Why day 1 buy something you didn't like? That is the most nonsensical comment I've ever read.

Apologies. Let me clarify. On Blu-Ray. I'm pretty sure there is no Fox Blu-Ray release of Darjeeling Limited.

This movie is amazing. I had to see it when I made a trip with a friend to NYC. The movie was sold out so there's obviously interest there...

I hope it's an extended cut with an extended beach scene. It felt like something was missing from that scene.

[Show spoiler]Obviously.... biggest..... "just kidding"..... ever.....

Saw this at a midnight showing last night and absolutely loved it. Will be buying and if it so happens Criterion releases it down the road, would have no problem double dipping. Yeah, it's that good.

Overrated, but still charming. I would probably place it above Aquatic and Darjeeling, but below all others. I've loved Wes and his work for nearly 15 years, met him when Rushmore came out, and saw Tenenbaums 10 times in the theaters (I was 23, deeply depressed, and living alone at the time). I even have the original BOttle Rocket DVD autographed by Wes himself, so I'm assessing his latest film as a true fan who's very familiar with his entire filmography. My main issue with MK was that the writing and the way it's delivered still feels too choppy and unreal. I can handle the myriad other stylistic flourishes, but I still feel let down by his inability to let the characters breathe and express themselves genuinely.

I know what you mean by this and I sometimes feel the same way. The theatrical nature of the dialogue adds a bit of distance and you can't always feel as close to the characters as you might like. However, as we know, that's kinda Anderson's style.

Despite this, I thought Moonrise Kingdom was one of the more accessible Anderson pictures - it's engaging and fun, with great characters. In fact, the biggest unheralded success of the movie is that he got such Anderson-esque performances out of the child actors. They completely fit in one of his usually adult-dominated worlds.

This is finally playing at my local theater, so hopefully I'll be able to see this soon (because it looks fantastic). If I don't get the chance to, though, this will definitely be a day 1 purchase because it looks so intriguing.
