Got to see trailers for Wreck-it-Ralph, Finding Nemo 3D, Monsters University and Hotel Transylvania. Thought they all looked great.
As for Brave, well I got to see about 50 minutes of it. My little one got scared when [Show spoiler] Thought she might get over it but after 5 mins of her sat with her hands over her ears, we left. Thought the 3D was decent. It certainly made Merida's hair look pretty realistic. It isn't in the same league as Tangled, which is my favorite from Disney as far as 3D goes. I'll definitely pick it up on blu-ray 3D....just won't be watching it with my 4.5 year old, I guess. |

I haven't seen Brave to comment on if Whitehill and the Pixar team tried to be more creative with the 3D this time though. Last edited by BleedOrange11; 06-23-2012 at 10:40 PM. |

![]() [Show spoiler] .I think out of previous Pixar 3D movies, I'd say Cars 2 impressed me the most. The difference in watching that movie in 3D and 2D is HUGE! The depth and what I can only describe as 'shine' on the cars, from the 3D version of that movie, really made a big difference for me....especially the Tokyo scenes. Brave didn't top that for me. I don't keep up with which 3D companies each of the movie makers use....but I'd say the Dreamworks stuff definitely beats most of what I've seen from Disney and Pixar. I do have a real gripe about our cinema's 3D screen though. Yet again (same as with Madagascar 3D) I thought there was an odd tinge of color to the screen (yellowish). Looking forward to getting these movies on 3D Blu-ray and watching them at home. From what they showed of the Nemo 3D trailer, The 3D looked decent but wasn't totally wowing me. Again, could just be, what's turning out to be, a not so great screen at our theater. It's just strange though...real life 3D (for example The Avengers) looked perfectly fine, color wise. Not sure what the issue is. |

![]() Yeah I thought the 3D looked decent too. It's hard to me to judge. It was never flat, but it felt like it wasn't fully popping either. I'm wondering if it's the cinemark screen I've been going to lately. I remember seeing the 3D nemo trailer at Muvico on one of their Sony 4k projectors and I think I was much more impressed with the 3D. Maybe it was a brightness or tech issue with Cinemark???(I usually have great 3D experiences with Cinemark, so maybe it could just be a one time mixed experience) |

[Show spoiler] , that was enough for her. She asked to go home so we did. We'd only paid for 1 of our 3 tickets so weren't too much out of pocket by leaving. Just wouldn't have been fair to let her sit there scared so my husband and I could finish the movie. I can wait for the 3D blu-ray.

3D PROJECTOR OR THE 3D MOVIE that is to blame for Weaker 3D? From the Brave 3D trailers, the 3D looks good, but it could've been amazing if they dared to push it farther. One way to tell if it's the movie's 3D that's lacking, is to carefully watch the 3D in the preview trailers before it. If even one of them has strong 3D, then the projector is playing correctly, and the film should be able to live up to it if it's also strong 3D. Anything less pretty much proves it's weaker 3D. I saw Abe Lincoln 3D and it had average to weak 3D with some scattered stronger 3D moments, but it couldn't compare to the preview trailer of The Great Gatsby 3D that had strong 3D and played just before Abe 3D started, proving the projector was playing correctly. As far as scares, I remember reading the Lion King's Hyena's scared kids, even though it's clearly not real and a cartoon. Of course at that age, every thing seems real I guess. |

Jude72, this movie was crafted in native 3D with 3D viewing in mind. your child should not have taken the glasses off, CGI viewing with the glasses off results in motion blur and other side effects.
i am sorry the bear scared your child, the 3D blu is out now, it is a 5 disc pack as follows: Blu-Ray 2D+Bonus features part 1 Blu-Ray Bonus disc (part 2) Dvd+Bonus features (Part 3) Disney File Digital Copy (to take wherever you go) Blu-Ray 3D (Film in 3D and Legend of Mordu in 3D as well, locked to 3D tv's, if you are hooked up to a 2D TV you will be greeted with a message and you'll have to use the 2D or DVD discs. if you are hooked up fully you can view it as such. but since again we have the scary bear scene you do not have the option of switching disc 5 (Blu-Ray 3D) into 2D mode as disney specifically disables the 2D playback software, you will be forced to use the Blu-Ray 2D disc or the DVD). in short disney locks their 3D films to 3D TV's made to be viewed in 3D and that's it. you do not have the option to view it in 2D mode. i would advise you tell your child the 3D disc is locked to 3D, you do not have the option to view it in 2D and you have no other choice. the rule here with that is that only happens if the 2 versions are a 3D/2D combo disc which disney doesn't do. everybody else does like Sony Pictures Animation. here is how this type works: 1. on startup you will be given a prompt to choose a version 2. sometimes this is in the discs menu to pick 3D or 2D 3. other times this is indicated by pictures 4. with this type the film is very often 3D only no bonus features, no extras, thats it. go to the 2D side for the film glasses off with special features. 5. if hooked up to a 2D TV the 2D version is picked for you 6. if hooked up completely you get a choice and the menu displays as such. hope your childs viewing experience in Disney Blu-Ray 3D goes better this time. if you want another disc we will put in the 2D disc. since the bear was viewed with the glasses on, scary objects like the bear (CGI, tell her the bear is not real, 3D CGI makes it convincing enough that it is) are computer programmed. tell her it is not real, it is Computer Generated by professional CGI animators in Emeryville, California. This is such a gorgeous looking animation and despite it being the usual reserved Pixar 3D, I think the 3D absolutely adds a lot to the experience and really enhances the rich visuals. I love the music too. I think this is probably my favourite Pixar movie all round.
